Problem adding effects to a part.

Post by FranciscoArellano »

Greetings.
I have been making some music and I have a problem for adding an effect to a part of a pattern. I know how to add effects to parts and I have done it sucessfully -I think- but specifically whenever I add an effect to this part it always add the effect to the whole pattern. I select the part and add it but always happens the same sh!t. I have tried adding the effect choosing the part in "solo" but its always the same.
Please help. Maybe it works that way and I haven't realized but...

Which machine do you have? There are now 8 different hardware devices to bear the name electribe, and stuff is different on each generation.

Ok, the EMX has three fx per pattern, shared between all parts. The only per part setting you has is to turn on and off the send, and which fx you are sending to, 1, 2, or 3. You can also chain the three fx in various ways. 1 to 2, 2 to 3, or 1 to 2 to 3.

So if you have say fx 1 as a compressor, fx 2 as a delay, and fx 3 as a reverb,

You can send some parts to compressor, some to delay and some to reverb. Or chain all three and anything sent to 1 will get compressor, delay, and reverb, in that order. Anything sent to 2 will only get delay and reverb, and sending to 3 will get reverb only.

So if you want a lead with distortion and nothing else, you use one of three fx, leaving only two more for all other parts. So you have three fx to share amongst all parts. You can send to only one effect per part. If you want two or three effects on a part you must use the chain, which is global for all parts.

Does that help?

Yes. I get it. So if I do choose three different effects, the final result per part will depend of the "select" button on each different part. So when I'm choosing a fx, if all other parts are in fx1 and i'm changing 1, 2 or 3 when I change a single part all of them will be influenced.

I will try it as soon as I get sober. Thanks for taking your time and explaining it to me.

I will post my results.

Also if you have a part sent to fx1 and the fx are chained, you could change fx2 and it will effect parts sent to fx1 also.
