You sold a PA3X and bought a new PA3X? After only four years?

You might consider taking better care of it!l
How rude.!!!

I NEVER said you are an idiot, merely suggested ways that you might be able to get better longevity from your arranger. Barry leapt in with both eyes shut to your 'defense' and escalated the whole thread. He is the one that said the word idiot. So don't even TRY to put that on me...

As I said, very few people here have had to replace their PA3X (please everyone note, he didn't say he was buying a new one and keeping the old one as a backup in case of problems) in such a short time frame, so I merely tried to suggest a few ways he might avoid that with the next one.

Sure, if you have the money, go ahead and buy as many as you want! I'm sure Korg are ecstatic

But overall, if you do, I'd suggest not selling the old one. If you are that busy, and your job is that dependent on that one piece of gear, as long as the old one is still giggable, it might pay to keep it as an emergency backup, should the new one have an issue...

Now, Barry... how about you simply stick to what I ACTUALLY say rather than invent stuff to escalate the thread? :?
1. After word "idiot" I have putted smile " :D " ,so, I got the point here and not being offended . ;) :)
2. 4 years is a long period for me playing arranger.
3. Read my previous post about pa4x in this stage and pa3x... For now, I still think that new Pa3x is the best investment in this moment :) I don't know what will future OS updates bring to Pa4x,but for now, Pa4x for me is not an option.

Sorry, but Barry certainly didn't add a smiley...

The damage had been done, the thread dragged down. I was kinda hoping you'd jump in sooner and defuse it, but no worries. All was meant in good faith.

Seems like baz is still determined to escalate things here, when even the OP says all is cool.

We're done here Barry. Bye bye....

Dear friends,

just a contribution, mainly for buying another Pa3x.

At the time I had Korg i30, after quite a bit of years, I started to have buttons that did not work or were working randomly. That situation gradually worsten, BUT i did not feel to buy a new keyboard yet.
Instead, I head Korg Service center in Rome to replace almost all buttons on the pannel. It costed about the equivalent of 250 Euro and I had a brand new keyboard (I understand the internal components factor, but I did not experienced similar problems).

The story I'm trying to say, that I perfectly agree that sometimes a new model is not so attractive to convince to do the expensive replacement. I experienced that having Pa1x, when Korg launched Pa2x: not so significant improvements at all, IMHO.

I missed my old i3 and i30 construction and keys. And when I finally had the chance to test/touch current Pa3x, I immediately fall in love: that was exactly what I was waiting for to replace Pa1x.

BTW, I agree with Karma when he says that it could be a little to early to issue final statements: at the end a keyboard needs to be played to really get its quality and features. We'll se.
I personally doubt I'm going to replace a keyboard like Pa3x that continues to surprise me.

Ciao
:D

Barry, read the thread again. You haven't done or said ANYTHING on this thread about the actual subject, merely leapt in to vex's 'defense'. He's perfectly capable of defending himself if he feels insulted, and it turns out he understands my point (unlike you).

So how about you let others decide for themselves if they feel insulted, and let them deal with it themselves. You have done nothing but turn this thread sour. If you feel I have insulted YOU, that's the time to say something.

Vex wrote:Does Korg thought that is all that so simple??? Like I didn't know that :-) And what about sampled user STEREO DRUM KITS AND LOOPS??? And what about fact that I have now about 420 mb of samples and slowly rising set? And Pa4x has 400 mb? I should spend about 1500 € for new model and after that will have to make compromises about user samples??? Not gonna happen...

A back up keyboard is good

Post by Keymn »

I think having another keyboard and two powered pa speakers is good thing. In my case, I have a Korg micro arranger in my van at all times in the event my PA3x may fail. It will at least get me through the gig.
Problem with these keyboards is those tac switches that are soldered to the circuit boards tend to wear and no longer connect. On my old Pa1x, I have replaced many of them, soldered new ones myself. Works like new!
Got them from digi key electronics for pennies. I guess all brands of keyboards use the same type of switches. Wear out in time.
If you have good solder equipment, an investment to replace the switches you use frequently would be well worth a try.
