Can I choose sound engine when loading a mapped sample prm?

Post by MusicianSickness »

Was able to load all my jupiter 8, juno 106 , juno 60, obh, and moog sound programs after converting them to SF2 format. I noticed the engine that was used was the hd1. Anyway to choose different engines to match the samples being loaded?
Btw the sounds came off my akai s5000, the sound quality is eerly identical to the actual keyboards, i remember when we did the meticulous library back in 1995 with the idea to sell them...there was no infrastructure at the time online like there is now damn it!!!!

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

Are you asking if other engines can be used to program these sounds, or, if samples can be loaded in other engines?

I'm sure many of them can be reproduced using AL-1 if you're a crafty programmer.

thanks for the reply. yea i just recreated a tutorial using that engine.
and yes...i want to load samples into other engines. what i wanted was to be able to use the switches and knobs and faders like a jupiter 8 or similiar. would like a template with all such switches already mapped out on kronos faders and knobs....that will be my project for the day.
sub resonance filter type stuff....cant really find it....yet.

I'm afraid the answer will let you down, but you can only load/stream samples with the HD1 engine.

I don't think you understand how the engines work in Kronos. The analog engines don't use samples at all, they use algorithms to model waveforms that (e.g.) a PolySix creates. There would be nowhere to load the samples to.

What you CAN do is make a Tone Adjust template for HD1 and map the EG and filter and whatnot any way you like. Just go to the control surface/tone adjust page and set it up any way you like.

thanks,
you need to patch a cable on the patch panel screen in the mod 7 from the pcm osc, in the pcm osc tab you can select your sample

Qui is correct of course, and likewise you can use samples in STR1, but it doesn't really seem relevant to the original question and I didn't want to confuse matters any further. Neither of those will do what you originally asked. Mapping the faders and buttons is what you want to do.
