Clicks and Pops - Update
So, I got my Kronos back and the guy said there's no problem with it.
As a comparison, I recorded 30 seconds of acoustic guitar in Sampling mode then 30 seconds in sequencer mode.
They actually sounded a bit different from each other and the sampling mode had no clicks while the sequencer mode had clicks! It's driving me crazy! Maybe I inadvertently changed a setting a few months ago?
Maybe I should just re-install the initial settings. I'm currently using Kronos version 3.0.2.
Any suggestions?

One thought. Are you using internal or external MIDI clock? For recording, the parameter guide, page 513, mentions, this:
"To record audio tracks, MIDI Clock must be set to Internal. For more information, see MIDI Clock (MIDI Clock Source)” on page 773"
It is also recommended to record to the Kronos hard disk.
Is time stretch being used?

I always record to hard disk rather than ram
I don't know how to use "time stretch" so that's probably not the issue
I will check the timeclock setting when I get home but if it recorded nice and fine in sampling mode, that may not be the issue.
I keep it simple. I have no computer and do everything on the Kronos. I just record covers and a few originals for fun. I'm a decent to average musician and mainly a guitarist
keep the brainstorms coming...

I'm totally out of my depth here as I don't use the sampling nor sequencer etc….but just as a "brainstorm" attempt…..
Check the bit depth for….
Sampling.
Sequencer(Preference and Audio In/ Sampling).
Global.
(I would imagine they should be the same for all).
Sequencer Audio Input.
Global Setting (?)
or
if not used, check the inputs for "unused inputs"…set to off.
Probably a re set to default would take care of most of the settings, but perhaps worth checking before doing so,just out of curiosity.
Another cause for crackles and pops is by interference.
Some usb devices or cables can be the culprit…..if connected.
As said,just some ideas…..

Have a read of this article, may be of some interest, even though you don't use a computer etc.
Some of the points are relevant.

I thought that maybe adding some RAM might help. My Kronos had one 2GB stick installed. So I bought another 2GB stick, but apparently the KRONOS only recognizes 2GB of RAM. Is this true?
I again noticed that the clicks only happen in sequencer mode and not in sampling mode.
They also happen if I am playing along with a track and not recording.
Here's an example of what I am doing right now:
I am working on "Almost Paradise" - the beautiful cheezy 80's ballad.
About 12 of the 16 MIDI tracks are used.
I put my 12-string acoustic on audio tracks 9 and 10 panned left and right. Doing each resulted in multiple clicks I had to take hours to edit out.
Then I put bass on audio track 3 - full of clicks that took an entire day to remove.
Last night I was setting up putting rhythm guitar on track 1. Just playing along resulted in many audible clicks and pops.
This has to be a software problem. The guy I brought it to said the hardware is fine.

do you have an audio example somewhere? i couldn't find it.
Clicks and pops can occure in many occasions, for instance:
- when the cpu overloads (the virus TI has this problem)
- when the sample rate of the audio doesn't match the audio clock (for instance routing a 48 kHz signal through a 44 kHz audio card)
- digital clicks when exeeding the 0 DB (for instance when you record the sample at -1 DB, but use it in the sequencer with a gained compressor where the signal exeeds the 0 DB)
- specific effects that are know to add clicks and pops (like the turntable FX)
- and so on....
So it's not that easy to determine what the problem is, but maybe a small audio example will help.

Does the problem occur even if you don't actually play anything, with the current set up ?
You've probably already tried various levels etc...but perhaps worth checking again by reducing them to produce a final combined lower level overall.
Also,it may help to "silence" the unused tracks.
Just guessing...

Your BUS settings for samplng and audio recording via sequencer mode, are they routed the same? When you plug in the guitar, you can bus it through FX and other options.
So maybe the sequencer audio record input is BUS through something different than in sample record input?
Check out the bus setup and if you see FX in the routing, then check out the FX assignment and scroll through them and see if you are getting the same result on every FX insert. I would try a take with FX off at first or bus line in direct going via no FX or any detours.
Also i would use a brand new intitialized song to try out all the advice every one added here. Then if its ok in the new song recording, you know it has to do with a particular setting.

I think I figured out how to post one. It's a very short snippet of me strumming some chords on an acoustic with clicks in it.

Before, I would set my levels to peak at 0. Now I am having them peak at -12 and it's no different.
I have all of the unused tracks silenced.
At this point it's got to be a software thing or some setting I unadvertently changed.
I think I will reinstall the factory settings. I have to back up everything first. Then see if the clicks are still there.
