Networking a Kronos 88 LS

Post by Guttalaser »

Hi ppl
my laptop (pc Win7 64) is connected via ethernet cable to my modem router as is my Samsung smart TV.

I'm planning to connect my Kronos 88 LS to the modem router too (the router has many ethernet ports) so i can work faster with FTP and PCG Tools and not mess swaping any cable from my pc to the Kronos or to the router.

I've read about the problem of overlapping IP addresses in DHCP mode, so it's better to assign a different third octet (subnet) to the Kronos, so the DHCP can't overlap address when assign the forth octet.

BUT my modem router support a kind of "reservation" procedure so you can "prenotate" an IP address (in the same subnet) that can't be assigned to any other client on the network. So i'm thinking about manually assign an ip to the Kronos and to reserve to the Kronos that ip inside the router.

That said, my questions are:

1) can i connect the Kronos to my only router and call it's ip address from my pc that is connected to the same router?

2) do you think that the described "reservation/prenotation" procedure will work about the ip overlapping prob?

TNX

you don't need to worry that much,
I use a static IP for my kronos as my kronos is always connected.

TNX Man...

done!
Reserved an IP to the Kronos inside my router and assigned manually the same IP in the Network tab in the Kronos...

It works! Now I have the all fractory and expansions PCGs on my pc!

Starting assembling my own "mixed" PCG (the only thing i don't know for now is if all the "child" files - samples and other things - will be recalled when i'll load the "frankenstein" PCG!)
