Sequencer Problem

Post by prmc »

Hi guys,
My Kronos X has a strange behavior when I enter Sequence Mode. The buttons Locate, Start/Stop are acting like crazy. They click them by themselves.
The song, for example, start and stop by itself making impossible to use the sequencer.
I opened it sometime and tried do clean the switches but it was not work.
Other buttons need to be pressed more than one time to do a response. The Exit key has clicked by itself sometimes too.

Anyone can help me? Is it a dust problem? Should I run a "PSoC System loading"?

I am 'assuming ' you are not playing with a midi file off the Internet,, etc etc

To rule out haunted midi data , start fresh,

At Song 000, with that hi-lited, do a " Song Initialize' from the menu

Then see if Song 000 behaves

Hi, GregC, the problem occurs in all songs. I only use songs created by myself. Even when I reset all songs, the sequencer try to start/stop then song like someone click the button repeatly very fast.

its an unusual problem... and I work in SEQ mode 99% of the time for many years.

Like much " Internet diagnosis", its useful to "rule out " easy stuff.

We could jump to assumption/guessing, but I am not in your studio, observing what exactly is taking place.

If you want, humor me, try my cleaned up Song 000 step and see if the problem is replicated in Song 000

I did the Song 000 test few minutes ago and the problem persists. And like other songs, the locate button needs multiple clicks to work.
The first time that this occurs, I was in a gig playing with the sequencer and the song restarts. Luckily, I stopped the song and play like "unplugged mode" covered by the band and the audience....

my guess is the buttons need to be replaced.
contacts are worn etc etc . Or something spilled on them, or humidity.

This doesn't help much, but I never use 'locate '

But start /stop has to work. No way around it

Sorry to not have a better solution.

No problem. I'll try to open it and clean the switches with a contact cleaner safe to plastic. I used it to restore my Roland RS-09 last week.
I hope it works, because Korg Authorized Support is expensive and takes a long time here...

Yeah, it sounds like those buttons and contacts need to be serviced. I use START/STOP an awful lot. To take a load off of that button, I often assign a foot switch to that function, in Global.
