Hello, Please help me solving this problem. I'm a new and inexperienced Korg user and just yesterday I purchased a brand new Korg pa1000 "s/n: 050451" from a local seller (not official) here in Almaty/Kazakhstan. I decided today to try loading some pa sets, some of them worked fine. Then I decided to do factory restore but that process wiped all the local and custom Factory data (Legacy & GM/XG sound banks, sound banks became less than before, style banks became less, and some sounds are not even working, etc..). I downloaded the latest OS v1.5 and installed it as instructed but nothing changed! The problem is that when booting the Korg pa1000 to install the OS it's seeing "only" the upd file and not the pkg! So Please help me what shall I do?
Thanks in advance
Regards

Hello Tarekb,
if you made a backup of the internal data (musical resources and settings) to a storage device, then you can restore data from this backup archive created with the Full Resource Backup command. Such backups should only be used for archiving purpose, since you will not be able to load individual data from a backup archive.
*
If you want to save data that has to remain accessible with the normal Media > Load operations, for example to load User data after updating the musical resources, use the Media > Save operations instead. This function only backs up the internal memory (Styles, Keyboard Sets, Sounds, Pads, Voice Presets, Guitar Presets and the Global), but will not save MIDI, MP3 or Direct Banks.
With load operation you can load all the memory content, a separate type of musical resources, a separate bank, a single resource or a SET folder, that may contain all the data of the internal memory. Loading a SET folder may either delete all the data contained in the internal memory, or merge the loaded data with the data already in memory.
*
Did you save your data before you made a factory restore? What procedure did you download or use for a factory restore?
*
As you decided to do a factory restore - maybe you checked "All" types of data - this had deleted from internal memory all type of data you selected in dialog box including your custom data.
If you installed Pa1000_Operating_System_v150.upd from an USB-Stick as (described with keeping the INTRO 1 button pressed, and press the POWER button to turn etc...) you can do a Factory Restore (Media / Utility / Factory Restore) and can load copies of your data if you safed it before.
*
It is ok only to see the upd-file for installation, because that is made for Pa1000 with serial numbers higher 39.999 (Pa1000, Type B is from SN# 40000 with HDMI and Clock Battery CR1632).

Hello siebenhirter, thanks for your appreciated reply. Unfortunately I did not save copy of data before performing "Factory Restore" process and yes I checked "All type of data" in the dialogue box. Because in my thought I was thinking that this process will "only" delete all data related to 3rd party installation (Pcm, performances, global, pads, styles, sounds, etc...) Installed from the sets I loaded prevoiusly & "WON'T" touch the preinstalled musical resources & presets that came came along with the device! My "innocent" purpose from using the Factory Restore process was just to return back the device to it's original factory state as it was when I just powered it on for the first time 2 days ago when I just purchased it! Yes I followed the same instructions for loading the OS 1.5. I didn't think that this might wipe up all the internal musical resources. Means that now I lost all these preset resources forever and no way I can restore them back? if I didn't save a backup file?? So what to do?? Help me pls

. You understand what frustration I'm passing thru now? Still 2 days didn't pass on the purchase. I was so excited & happy now what to do?? Help me plsss
