Is there a way to see the notes that you're playing?

Post by blazerunner »

Hello,

I've seen some view (don't remember which exactly) on the Kronos that showed the keys as I was pressing them down on the screen but I think it was just some side function for a different feature.

Does the Kronos have the ability to display the keys and that you're pressing or what notes you're playing? Like for example on the sequencer if you play a song can you look back and see the keys you pressed? or have the ability to know what chord you were doing? and tell you?

I ask for song writing purposes. Recording is one thing but handing sheet music to someone to play is another.

If you go to the KARMA GE Page (0-6) you will see a realtime display of keys pressed.

If the Krronos sequencer had a piano roll editor you would be able to see the notes. Unfortunately it does not have a piano roll editor.

For real time playing, you can also visualize what you do in Quick Layer and Quick Split modes.

If you really need to find out what notes/chords you played you can save you MIDI sequence as an SMF Type 1 and bring it into an app or DAW that has a piano roll editor. If you read music, some even have notation software bundled in.

Thanks for the advice and tips.

I was playing some pieces to a song idea but I had forgot what I played over time.

I remembered the chords.

I was hoping there was an easier method to pull the notes pressed on the keys like most Daws do but on the old Kronos it doesn't do that.

There is a way (not a fun way) to find notes played and that's using the Midi event editor. It will tell you the key and you can even press on the event to play that key with the touch screen (very interesting tool)as well as few other interesting things it can do like elongate or shorten sustained notes.
