pa4x update?
Not for me at the moment. I listened to the demos and the sound is as good as my 3x.Seems to be some minus and plus affairs going on there.
The price is my main concern. I might get 2 grand for my 3x and have to pay out 3+ to upgrade. Not on. I should have asked karmathanever for a lend of his. He's rich!!!(pete. I'll pay the one way freight HeHe)

Hey Baz
Yeah - the price is a total killer here - agree!!!
But I must say that the sounds of the PA4X far exceed the PA3X IMHO. I wasn't expecting them to, but they do.
It hits me every time I play it - particularly playing styles that I am used to from earlier models.
Drums and guitars - great.
I think the DNC/DNC2 is magnificent - wish I had that on my Kronos!!
Orchestral and strings surpass my Kurzweil PC3 (which I will sell shortly as it was the only thing that it was really good for
)
Great improvement with the DRAWBAR organ (one of my passions).
Personally i find the OS, operational and structure changes far more logical and great to use (small learning curve).
Yes there are a few issues most of which I am confident will be sorted out - so far there are work-arounds to avoid any hiccups (like the freeze problem).
SONGBOOK is delayed as you may be aware but again it doesn't prevent using and enjoying this amazing piece of gear to the full.
I am not sure when or if we (Aussies) will ever see any of this type of gear at acceptable prices - I was lucky and sold some gear (incl PA3X) which just about covered the PA4X cost.
All the best mate

Well Baz you wouldnt want to have to buy a Tyros 5 76 at nearly $7000 AUS then of course you wouldnt want to but I am just making the case for the 4x at 6.3 after conversion it is not a lot different than here in the UK although a little cheaper if you look for discounting.barry murphy wrote:Not for me at the moment. Shop around and the 76 Aus street price can end up around <=$5.5k.... 61 around <=$5k
Still expensive but that applies to everything right now - Roland prices have increased by up to 40% in the last couple of years!!!
I think at this rate the PA6X will be my next update (if I live that long
)
Go on Baz - you know you REALLY want one....

I feel your pain. I have too many hobbies ;photography is VERY expensive and I also play drums and have a very expensive kit. It pains me to sell off other gear to purchase new gear. I have parted with some really valuable and lovable gear in my lifetime. I currently only have two keyboard and 1 drum set. I should probably have 25 keyboards and 10 drum sets.
However, If I did that, I would probably be single and living in one of those new Tiny Houses.
I agree with Pete, the Pa4x is much better of a keyboard. It could be worse, you could be fixated on a $5,700 Yamaha Tyros 5!
