COMBI Drum Track

I'm attempting, with zero success so far, to add a drum track per the Kronos Operation Guide (page 260: Using the Drum Track in Combination Mode).

I have followed these instructions to the letter, resulting in either 1) no sound whatsoever if I set the output MIDI channel to 10 (again, per the instructions) or 2) an annoying KARMA-like arpeggiation jive track sort of jumble if I set the output channel to Gch.

What is the magic word to make this work?

I welcome any and all help. Many thanks in advance...
