OASYS lighting.

Post by ryan42 »

Since I put a second tier and keyboard over my Oasys I can't read the names of the knobs and faders and don't have memorized what they do in the different modes so I came up with a nice solution: the USB ports are right behind this area and you can plug one of those USB flexy lights into the port and point it right over the controls. :-)

Mmmm... Sure, if you use it with the Oasys usb ports it will work.

But even knowing the AOpen motherboard the Oasys has, I wonder if using that kind of USB stick some time could make the Oasys any harm.
We dont know for sure if its conveniently supported by the Oasys USB ports at all :-k

Maybe Dan, someone at Korg, or any other tech fellow over here can tell us more about this...
Regards.

The light is only drawing power from the port so being "supported" is a non-issue. The regular PC motherboard that's you're plugging the light into should have no trouble at all with this.

I have been using those USB lights since I had the triton extreme.
I have 4 of them , two for the keyboard, two for the pedals.
At that time I had to use an USB multi-port box, but now with Oasys it is no more necessary.
The minus with Oasys is that it is a wide instrument and the USB ports are not in the centre of the rear panel, so, as it seems that those USB led-lights are of a standard lenght, it is difficoult to illuminate properly the right side of the panel.
Playing live they are very useful, expacially in the "dark" moments, at the beginning of the show, or when it happens (often) that the keyboard player is placed in the most remote corner of the stage.

Yes, exactly. As long as it's compliant with the USB power spec, it should be fine.
