2 Mini-KP's & 2 Pioneer CDJ1000 Mk3's - A quick question

Post by fraserbottomley »

Hi guys. New here so a big hello to everyone.
I'm thinking about getting 2 mini-kp's to go with my 2 cdj1000's, this way it goves me much more flexibility of effect usage, allows me to use my mixers internal effects aswell (Ecler Nuo5) and leaves my external effects loop free for something else. They'd be connected as follows to my setup...
CDJ---Mini-KP----Mixer (the same for both cdj's).

I've read that some users of the mini-kp experience a volume drop from their original source audio when using the mini-kp, would connecting the units this way avoid this problem?
As the signal from the cdj would always be going through the kp before reaching the mixer, i believe the mini-kp has a mode where when an effect is not engaged, it simply passes the audio through?
Or are people experiencing the volume drop just when the effects are engaged and not when the audio is passing through?

Thanks in advance for the help guys :)

I think your idea can work no problem, however I starting to think that the volume drops are a result of not having a strong enough source in the signal path. I set up my mini kp for use with my guitar immediately after getting it. The signal goes from the guitar to a Korg Pandoras box (to act as a preamp) into the mini KP and from there out to all my effects/pedal boards .... etcetera.
