additional midi controller w/ zero 4?

Post by db2000 »

I've been setting up my Zero 4 with Traktor Scratch Pro trying to get the most control over the software with my mixer without having to use the software with a mouse. The problem is there are more functions I'd like to assign to a controller than what I have available with my Zero 4. Anyone have any suggestions of an additional midi controller to use with my zero 4 to assign more control over the software? All I need is more knobs that can be assigned and more buttons since I'm using two Numark HDX's with timecode discs with my Zero4.

The other question I have is if I get another midi controller will it connect to my laptop via USB or will it hook up to my Zero 4 via MIDI? I only have one firewire input on my laptop so hopefully they don't require that connection only.

Now that I think of it, I have one final question in regards to my Kaoss Pad 2. Is there a suggested way to use this with my Zero 4 with TSP? Since the Zero 4 doesn't have an effects channel to connect to I don't really know what to do. I had it originally run in-line with one of my turntables except it now messes with the timecode with TSP. I have XLR to RCA adapters right now coming from the master output for in home use and am going to run it from there but when I use powered speakers what am I to do if I want to use it?

zero is detected as three midi devices. 1st is just for communication with zero software, 2nd for green knobs, 3rd is bonus midi interface on back (dins). and yes, one firewire will handle all audio and those three midi devices.

i wonder what your setup looks like, so you need additional midi hardware :)
if you are using 2 channels with eq and zero4 f/x there are stil 8 knobs, 3 buttons, 1 on/off/spring switch and 1 fader per channel (and additional 4 knobs if you don't use zero4 f/x)

I have a Zero 8 and wanted to install a Nano Key as well. I wanted the Nano Key for Loops and Cue points. I guess it is not possible with the Zero taking all the slots?
