hello first post. i dont own any thing yet. want to get into electronic music and was thinking of getting a kaossilator. it seems to be the most beginner friendly toy of its kind. i was also thinking of getting a kp3. now my qustion is can i (if i have both) hook up to a laptop for greater possibilities or is there something more suited for that like the esx1 or someting similar. any help suggestions would be greatly appreciated
thanks

IMHO, you'd do better with one of the Electribes. Kaoss Pad devices are better as sidekicks once you've got a groovebox that can give you the basics (i.e., a few tweakable drums, synths and effects).
If I were you, I'd try to find an old EM-1 Electribe on eBay. It's got an intuitive user interface that makes it easy to get started making basic patterns. Once you're ready to graduate to a better device or to software, you can probably sell the EM-1 for the same amount you paid for it.
...my $0.02.

*Plenty* of posts on this elsewhere, but the basics:
The EMX has 5 monosynths that can play simultaneously. Also about 200 preloaded drum samples, you can use any 9 of them in a given pattern. The ESX is all sample-based, i.e. you have to load all your own sounds onto it. Both are quite tweakable but have very different purposes. The learning curve is probably steeper on the ESX if you are just getting started.
Look for both on YouTube.
