The Korg Triton Extreme is much newer and more advanced than the studio model - which is an earlier Triton.
The extreme has the Valve Force valve distortion circuit, as well as many more program locations and a much expanded wave ROM, which contains all (or most, I'm not sure) of the samples from the expansion boards which are available for the other tritons.
I'm sure it has other advantages too but I own neither so can't tell you any more. I'm sure others will chime in

Never tried the studio but i did go from the classic to the extreme and now have an M3. Although i'm still trying to get my head round the M3, and ignoring the obvious karma addition, i still find myself looking back at the extreme as one awesome piece of kit. Did plan to sell it to part-fund the M3 but no way am i getting rid of it - EVER.
Even though i can see all the obvious upgrading on the tritonesque side of the M3; four crossfade velocity samples per oscillator, user friendly sequencer, preset effects etc etc; there are certain aspects of the extreme that still hold it close to my heart. All that lovely 120 polyphony (shared between the two sound engines albeit - but very easily manipulated considering the depth of quality samples on both), and as just stated; the quality and depth of samples, many of which (vintage synths to be precise) that i just cannot find on the new M3. An example of this was the ms20 sample (i think??) that was an exact replica of the echoey sawtooth lead on pink floyd's 'any colour you like' (apart from the over sustain).
It also looks rather beautiful to me as well, and is just all round priceless in my eyes - I LOVE IT!!!

Check it out... it has a nice little feature comparison chart at the bottom comparing all the Triton-family synths. You can see for yourself which is superior... Triton Studio was great when the EXB boards were readily available, now adays you have to really search for them...best to have the Extreme, which just has EVERYTHING inside it.
