multitrack sequence help
Can I load a song into the sequencer, or do I always have to create the beat manually. I know with step back sequqencing I can record my chord variations, can I load those in multitrack sequencing ? Or any other beat for that matter.
I'm trying to limit the use of my DAW for sequencing and see how much I can get out of my PA.
Thanks.

Re: multitrack sequence help
Yes, in the sequencer you can either load a MIDI file as your starting point, or you can record a backing sequence using quick record. In both cases you can then re-edit the tracks in sequence edit mode, and you can lay down new tracks as well.rbalaa wrote:Can I load a song into the sequencer, or do I always have to create the beat manually. Hi rbalaa,
To load a MIDI file while in Sequencer mode, use
a) "Load Song" from the drop down menu, or
b) press the SELECT button on Player 1 while in Sequencer mode, or
c) touch the PLY1 song name on-screen
Then to record additional tracks on top of the existing MIDI file, press the RECORD button and select the "Multitrack Sequencer" option. Then arm the tracks you want to record and make sure they are set to the correct MIDI channel number. Set either OVERDUB or OVERWRITe recording mode, then arm the tracks you want to modify by clicking the "P" icon on the track and change it to look like a miniature tape deck. Press Start/Stop and your recording starts!
Best regards,
Rob

Dont forget that the Sequencer also workas as any other workstation,
you can create MIDI from scratch too, from zero.

Thanks Nedim. What I'm hoping to be able to do is, record the midi song with my chord variations, then load it in the multitrack sequencer, and then play the instruments on the rest of the tracks.BasariStudios wrote:Dont forget that the Sequencer also workas as any other workstation,

Basically being able to "insert" a beat in the multitrack sequencer.
Thanks.

Then as Rob told you, record in BackingSequence, it records any movement
you make on the keyboard and then it saves it as regular MIDI file.
After that you can load it in the Sequencer.

I am trying to do exactly this. But when I import the midi in Cubase, and try to play.. then the sounds are distorted. I see that some tracks got itself assigned some stupid sounds I never assigned.
Also as I obseve any track (for eg the drum track no 10), it changes the bank as the song progresses. Of course it'll because I was changing variations while recording. But would this "change of bank" for a particular track be cascaded to Cubase? Is this what we call event/program change?
For me, still the drum track is becoming a flute.. and then to a guitar in Cubase. I am just trying to find a wall to bang my head!!
