KP3 Touch Screen in Ableton

I know that you can use the touch, x-axis, and y-axis midi messages to control parameters in Ableton, but I don't know how to accomplish it. What mode does the KP3 need to be in to work? External Control? USB, if I plug it in via USB? Any help with how to implement this in Ableton would be appreciated, though once i know what mode to have the KP3 in i know how to change CC #s on both the KP3 and Ableton so I should be able to figure it out.

this sounds like a job for the manual!

it doesn't matter, it'll spit out midi data either way (usb, midi cable, regular mode, external ctrl, any combo of the above should work). if you don't want to do anything else with the kp3 put it in external control mode. otherwise, don't.
