Sound Libraries
I have quite a selection of sound libraries collected over the years. Many are Kurtzweil native, and others are Akai native.
How does the O react to "foreign" sound libraries? With the Kurtzweil K2000R, I had to make a template for the Akai sounds and just keep copying new samples into it, since all the parameters were zero'ed out. Effects were also zero'ed out to whatever the first effect is in the Kurtzweil.
I was just wondering how the O handles all this info. Also, are there any good OASYS libraries available?
Thanks,
Barry

OASYS supposedly supports Akai format libraries, so give them a try. KARO make some nice OASYS libraries.
Your options with OASYS are AKAI, KARO and myself.
AKAI.... it will read S1000/S3000 format perfectly. It has full import of filters, and will create the PCG files itself during loading.
KARO... which Mike has linked to above....
And myself.... here.
For the OASYS I've only 2 libraries. A Piano library and the mega OASYS ASSAULT. There's also a program available for creating custom versions of the OASYS ASSAULT library, which is a first for any KORG library in the world.
This app allows you to only load the sounds you want to keep without wasting a single Kb of memory, where without the progarm customising any library is a big manual task.

Sharp.

D'oh .... Yeah, my iPhone changed the word on me when I had it typed. Happens often. I must clear out the custom dictionary and start over. It's picked up a few bad habits from me not being as accurate as I could be at typing.kenackr wrote:Sharp,
I looked at your last post & in particular the word "avoidable", I assume you meant available?

Thanks.

Just to folllow up, I attempted to load an AKAI formatted sample library, and it did load sounds so they could be played on C4 or thereabouts. It seems like there might be some necessary work to do in mapping it to say, C3. This is from a SoundScan library that came out in early 2000s. They were very affordable, and the sounds were actually very good. I have several of them. They only gave you around 50 sounds but the price was right. When I loaded the disc, it showed up as Partitions A,B,C,D etc.
For the first time out, they all sounded pretty good. There's probably further manipulation would improve flexibility.
I would like to find out more about the OASYS disc(s) by Sharp. He can contact me at trancept@aol.com.
Thanks again!
