Unlocking Files

Post by BARRY CRAIG »

This is a pretty basic question, but I'm unable to find the answer in the manual(s).

I recently downloaded the files for the O from this site. All are locked files, thus I haven't been able to even open them on the O. Is unlocking files a global function or disk function?

Any feedback on this basic question would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Barry

Can't recall seeing this before... My best guess is that perhaps the files use an engine that is still locked on your O?

Failing that, I could download the files and see if I have the same issue, if you want.

Yes, thanks. I would be interested in finding out if someone else downloaded the files from this OASYS website, and see if they load as locked files or unlocked. The problem may be a setting on my O.

Thanks for trying to figure this else. When everything else fails, there's always the manuals that sometimes are daunting at best.

Okay will do - which particular downloads are causing you the problem? I'll download the same ones, see what happens and get back to you...

In DISK mode, press the UTILITY tab. Now press the dropdown menu (upper right). The 3rd selection down is LOCK/UNLOCK SELECTED. Try that and tell me if it works.

I never had such a problem; from which url you downloaded the files? I would also try to see what happenes when downloading.

best regards

My default browser is Chrome. Not much to see except the download arrow on my PC. The files appear to be locked but if I click on them, they open to all sorts of file names/extensions. I was able to load the electric gtr program, but the correct sample did not load with it so there was no sound to play. Is it necessary to load progams and samples separately? I seem to remember that you can check list what you want to load, but to my thinking, programs should load with their samples and not have to be loaded separately.

To be clear, I have worked with Korg workstation synths for years (all the way back to the M1). The O is a different animal, it seems.

Thanks for your input!
