How to use Kronos as VST and/or in your sequencer

Post by kronosn00b »

Forgive me for my total newbie questions in advance.

1. Is it possible to have Kronos show up as a VST? If so what software do I need to install?

2. Is the Kronos editor live yet? I installed 1.5 on my Kronos, but never saw any editing software for MAC and PC with the installer?

3. I installed the midi drivers, but they don't register with Cubase. Anybody know why?

Thx again.

1. Not yet working, this function probably comes with the editor.

2. The editor is not available yet.

3. What System, PC or Mac?

The editor that you speak of is yet to be released.
I don't know how to set up in Cubase, I'm sure others here can help you, I'm with Logic and Live, sorry.

Thanks for immediate answers. I guess my question is down to ... how do I use my Kronos in cubase? I assume the setup is similar to Logic and others. I am on Win7/64, but the Kronos Midi Drivers don't show up in Cubase...

According to the Korg website the driver is Win7/64 bit compliant. So you might just try to reinstall the driver. If this doesn´t help you´ll still be able to use conventional midi cabling, via midi in, out, thru.
A possibility would be to call Korg Tech-Support.

Sorry i can´t help furthermore cause i´m on Logic Mac...

I use it with Cubase...there is nothing really to set up. Install the drivers and
it works, if not uninstalla and then reinstall again, sometimes it helps.

How long is the Kronos powered on before you launch Cubase? I know that if I launch Logic Express on my Mac before the Kronos is finished booting up it does not show up as a device and I have to relaunch Logic Express after a few.
Hope this helps. Cheers!

What cynkh wrote is important indeed.
The right order is:
1) Boot the Kronos until it's fully loaded and ready to play on.
2) Start Cubase

Any other order will result in Cubase not seeing your Kronos MIDI driver.
