Kronos - m3 PATTERN compatibility

Post by afr »

I know that is NOT possible to import songs from m3 in kronos, but I do not understand why also the pattern are incompatible.

I used korg sequencer from the 01/W passing for Trinity up to m3 and now Kronos, the pattern structure is always the same, so would be very nice to keep compatibility of pattern, this would make easier rebuilt the song into kronos.

In your opinion ther will be any chance to have t?

have a nice holidays to everybody :)

I don't know what you exactly mean with a pattern, I suppose rppr, but what I did to transfer songs from my Triton to the Kronos is to hook them up with midi.
Than hit the record button on the Kronos and after the countoff hit the play button on the Triton. This enabled me to get the mididata of a sequencer track to the Kronos, track by track (you have to change the track on the Kronos). After quantising the result was better than the play it all over again.

Maybe you could do something similar.

But, I agree, it is pretty annoying Kronos isn't able to do such simply downgradable things. (Kurzweil does this much better.) The Kronos sequencer needs some work from Korg R&D.

Luckily sample files from the Triton are read by the Kronos.

I'm doing the same with pattern, but it takes a long time.

My Trinity's, Triton's, OASYS 88's, KRONOS's, M50's, 01/W's and even the T-Series do this!

It's amazing!

Especially between the M50's I use as a scratch pad and controller, and my KRONOS's, it's truly a blessing to record entire Sequences in ONE shot and having all the MIDI Tracks intact....

Multi Rec speeds up the process a lot. Sina, thanks for the tip.
If you never used it, this is what you should do:

* Select Multi Rec

* (Go to the Play/Rec page and) set the green play button of each (desired) track to rec.

* Synchonize the tempo's

* Press the Rec/Write of the sequencer and Start of the Kronos

* Press the Sequencer Start button of your Trinity, Triton, M3, or whatever
after the count in.

* After recording Quantise each track in Track Edit on the Kronos

You should be able to sync the two units to start on a midi start command.

I have not tried this personally, but could you not export/import the data via standard MIDI file (.smf) format?
