Musikmesse 2012

Post by Jan1 »

I just noticed the launch of a new Viscount piano based on physical modeling, the PHYSIS piano.
It looks very interesting, and I can't wait to hear some demos.

Interesting is that aside from the physical models this piano also features a High Definition Sound Engine (just play the teaser on the homepage); did they license it from KORG?

Certainly looks nice...but did they really have to over embellish by abbreviating every feature of the piano???

You can say that again.

My Kronos also has:

KNB: Knobs
SLI: Sliders
BUT: Buttons
TSC: Touch screen
POS: Power On Switch
SCR: Screws for the case see CAS)
CAS: Case
WHI: White keys and ...
BLA: Yes black keys too

But also:
MAN: Manual
PAG: Parameter guide
CBO: all packed in a carton box
WAR: Warranty

Too bad it also came with the BIL(L) feature.

Well, it seems to be very quiet on the Korg front at Musikmesse... I guess there's still a few days yet.

However, there is a hefty version 2 OS upgrade for my JP-80 :)

(plus there's the new JP-50)

Maybe Roland is releasing a lower priced version of the JP80 to pave the way for a new line of workstations later this year.

I actually was referring to the reason for releasing a low cost version of the JP-80, the JP-50.

If Roland wants to release a commercialy attractive workstation in the near future, then its price-point should not be over the $3000-4000 range, which is the price range of the JP80.
Given a choice between an expensive performance synth like the JP80 and a full-fledged workstation with a similar sound engine I don't think there will be many buyers of the JP-80 left at its current price-point.

Nice design.
I suspect this is not a real product though.

3D model maybe. The fact there are no audio clips is also strange.

@ Cello - Had the chance to play the Jupiter-80 V2 and spent some time to test the additional filters. And they are definitely an improvement! Casio is coming back with an amazing instrument, considering the sales price of € 550.-, zynaptiq was impressive and there is something else we hope to review soon.
