Leap Motion & KRONOS

Post by Sharp »

Hi all.
Finally got my Leap Motion controller today. It's quite a powerful device from a musical controller point of view.

The App I'm running on the Tablet is called Geco and costs about 10 euro on the Leap Motion app store. It's designed to work with the Leap Motion and convert hand gestures into CC#.

Here's a quick little video I recorded.

You can find out more about Leap Motion by click HERE to go to their website.

Sharp.

very nice video Sharp, I am also using Leap Motion, using for short period of time is ok, but my arm does get fatigue after using it for any serious work corel paint, geco..., so the term "gorilla arm" which was created for touch screen does apply to leap motion as well...

Best of luck with it. It's really lots of fun.

Just a tip for Geco, if your going to use it mostly with your left hand, in preference there's an option to tell it that the first hand it sees is mostly the left hand. If you set this option you get super accurate response.

Bought a Leap device at Best Buy for $86 usd (includes tax) today.

Downloaded and started to use withing a few minutes with Geco ((about $10)
from their Airspace app store.

Good tutorials online.

The only thing that threw me was that after setting midi message value to 7 I could control the volume of the Integra patch but it drops after you remove your hand from the Leap sense field. Can you set and leave the level after removing your hand I wonder? Got it, Tutorial 5 & Document Management and Tute 6 Advanced Configuration at:

http://www.uwyn.com/geco/tutorials/#tutorial1

Use the Rest Value to retain X amount of volume, reverb etc

Even as it is you could record some very interesting volume changes into Live etc

So far though this is a very impressive piece of technology.

Hi Ksynth.

Congratulations on your leap motion.

No problem.

Down at the bottom of the screen where you set the CC and Channel values there is an option called rest. Whatever you type in to that field is what will be sent as the default value when your hand is removed. This works on a percentage of 127. So you can enter a value of 1% to 100% and that's what will be transmitted to your Integra when you remove your hand.

Or, if you enter in a value of 101, it will change to the worlds “Last”, meaning when you remove your hand, whatever it was last at is what will be held.

Ahh I see you edited your post to include the "Rest" function while I was typing.
I'll leave my post up anyway just in case others take the plunge and buy a leap.

Sharp.

Thanks, the Last setting was unknown to me. Useful indeed.

I'm now trying to figure out why my Integra 7 is not fully linked to Live. It was like that before I used the Leap anyway. It works sort of.
