Any Guesses About the Future of Kaoss Pads???

Post by SMK »

I waited to see what we would learn from NAMM about any possibility of a new Kaoss pad.

I held off from getting the Kaoss Pad Quad until we either saw news of a new one coming around the corner or that, well there is nothing new in the future of the Kaoss series. And well, guess what? Nothing new...

I'll be spending on a new Kaoss Pad Quad. I have been needing a new multi effect system for a while and the Quad makes sense. After that I'll bump up to adding a 2nd KP3 thanks to the Plus model as well as a KO Pro.

At any rate I am actually kinda glad there is no new Kaoss for me to drool over till I can afford it. I always get Kaoss products when they come out except for the mini toys...

So what is everyone else's thoughts on this? Do you think the Kaoss line is officially dead, at least for a while?

I sure hope it's not dead. I'd love to see a QuapPad with four full multieffect processors and sampling. I have the KP3, MiniKP, MiniKP2 and the Quad. My favourite is the MiniKP2.

A new Kaoss pad would be dope, but only if they took into consideration all of the complaints and user suggestions. Right now I'm considering getting a KPro+ (I own the original Kaossilator, the mini KP, the KP3, and the iKaossilator), but I also might get another Kp3 or KP3+ as I could really see the benefits of owning two of these.

Beyond that, I think Korg would be smart to offer IAPs for the iKaossilator. This would be a cheap and sensible move, and would make iOS users quite pleased. Of course, a free update would be nice, too.

When it comes to gadgets like this, I think its hard to predict what Korg will do next. But last year saw the release of the mini Kaossilator2s so perhaps by year's end or next namm we will see another addition to the lineup.

i am guessing they will start using the kaoss pad technology to provide CV control of the new volca-type analogue synth boxes...

Yeeeeaaaaahhhh.....ahhh with the volcas taking midi in, I don't see a bright future in Kaoss to CV. Nice thought though.

On the subject of using Kaoss to control volcas, I see that if armed with a KO Pro you can control every aspect of the volca keys, which keep in mind, is a pretty sweet deal.
