G. Grand vs. J. Grand

Post by drama1 »

The Japanese Grand has beautiful sustain in the last upper two octaves of the keyboard. While I prefer the timbre of the German, I would like to have the same sus in the upper octaves the Japanese displays. I've tried the J. Rudess Japanese Grand and substituted the piano to a German but then the upper sus is gone. May be a silly question, but is there any way to increase the sus in the upper register of the German Grand? Thanks.

Just to clarify: Hold the sustain pedal down and play the upper two octaves of the Rudess Jap Grand and compare to the German and I believe you'll be able to hear what I mean.

I actually like the opposite.

I've got a custom program where the Jap Grand covers the lower 2 octaves and De Grand covers the rest of the keyboard.

Few variations on this too where the lower is tuned down an octave, where there is some overlap, etc.

You can do most of that from the Program Basic page. There are controls for split point/zones between the two EXi and also for transpose.

I did a superposition of two EXis, a German and a Japanese, you might notice that they're not tuned the same way when you hit keys in the last octave, same thing in the lower one, sounds fun sometimes =)
