Using Loops in Combination Mode

Post by japferax »

Hey all,

I want to play in a loop in a live performance while using the combination mode. Maybe I don't have to use the combination mode. My aim is to be able to use different sounds while having a loop being played in the background that I initially played in at the beginning of the song.

Can someone help me?

This question comes up a lot - there are several methods to get close to this idea. You might want to search on loops in this forum.

Right, there are a few ways to do this. I like to time slice the loop and turn it into a drum track. It takes a little more time to set up then just assiging the loop to a note, but there are several advantages. You can change the loop tempo without changing the pitch (within reason). You can also sync the loop/drum track to KARMA and use all those cool drum sounds and patterns. It also lets you easily turn the loop on and off without having to hold down any notes. Here’s how…..

Here’s a demo for our Electric Guitar sound library, using the guitar riff as the loop. Syncs up nicely with the rest of the KARMA rhythm sounds. All sounds are coming from one combi.

Hey Kid, Sorry I forgot about your video. That is my favorite technique too. I did some of that on a new sound set for the Kronos that is coming out.
Glad you posted the link again!

I wanted to wait until the Bolder Sounds products were actually out before posting anything. I did the loop/KARMA thing on some of those sounds sets.
Here is an example https://soundcloud.com/bolder-sounds/wo ... sic-kronos

Have done a bunch more since then. I really like the technique for percussion if the sounds dialed in right it is possible through Karma to really give a sense of a live player with fills and complexity added as needed.
