Acquaintance with deficiencies and inconvenience KORG Pa3X
Hi all
I am new to this forum.
Currently studying the possibility of KORG Pa3X.
I'm prof. keyboard player and arranger last 24 years have used keyboards with auto accompaniment from Solton-KETRON.
Now I move my work from Ketron SD1 to Korg Pa3x
Instruments from Korg know and love since 1980 - my first was a Korg MS-20 .... then the famous M1.
Today my tools - kurzweil pc3k8, Ketron SD 1, KORG Pa3X,
Logic Pro 9, iMac, RME fireface 800.
All of the features of my toys I know from A - Z for both the exterior and inside. Therefore, all my questions will relate to the comparison of options and parameters of Ketron and Korg Pa.
Questions a lot but answers so little.
To save time, appeal to connoisseurs of PA-Series

1st question
Why when writing a new style, there's no function for recording from MIDI input? Especially important simultaneous recording on all tracks from all midi channels! Where this function?
The same disadvantage when recording on a sequencer?

Are you sure? Or you do not understand the question - if, in principle, such a possibility exists?Nemik wrote:You need first study your PA3x, in order to use midi in for record you need first setup midi in.Isramozart wrote:Why when writing a new style, there's no function for recording from MIDI input? I understand that you are very familiar with the Ketron and so wanting to ensure similar functionality exists on the PA3X.Nemik wrote:You need first study your PA3x, in order to use midi in for record you need first setup midi in.
A couple of suggestions:-
1. Please study the PA3X manuals (there are 2).
2. Run through the "Quick Start guide" for the PA3X as this will give you Korg's terminology - this is important as the various arranger manufacturers use different terms for similar functions.
You may well find several of your questions answered already.
PA3X functionality is huge and often quite daunting for new owners - certainly compared to SD1.
As Nemik is saying - to dive into the technical side of style recording/sequencing, you do really need to know the PA3X underlying structure and concepts otherwise we will end up going through long pre-explanations to get to your questions.
For example, there is a complete section on importing MIDI into styles.
We are here to help and NOT saying "go find you answers in the manual".
Cheers
Pete

OK, let's be clear about a couple of things.
Where are you getting this information from?
Do you already have the PA3X?

I'm practicing with Korg for two months. Both books I have opened on the desktop. All I'm asking here - this is something which is not in the books. This means either I can not read well enough .... or in Korg this possibility is not provided. All I ask you to say - There is a possibility or not?karmathanever wrote:I understand that you are very familiar with the Ketron and so wanting to ensure similar functionality exists on the PA3X.Nemik wrote:You need first study your PA3x, in order to use midi in for record you need first setup midi in.

Yes, is possible to record midi data directly to style using midi in connection.
if this is what you need to know.
But maybe I'm wrong, but this Post is more to disadvantage Pa3x, not to get help, at least this how I feel ,so I'm out ,.....can't help it .

Yes, I already have a Korg in my studio. Yes, I already familiar with function - import midi file. I have copied several styles of Ketrona in Korg used this funktion. I've done drum samplers from Ketron and formed them into User Drum Kit. So.... what about recording from MIDI?Isramozart wrote:I'm practicing with Korg for two months.
