What are the MIDI capabilities of the new electribe?
I'm pretty sure it can send and receive clock signals, but can it also control the notes of external sound modules? Ex/ have a part on the electribe with a level of 0 but have it send the notes of the part to MIDI.
I'm beginning to think I'm going mad. I just want to sync a Microbrute with the clock of the Electribe:
[ microbrute ]+-midi in---------midi out-+[ Electribe ]
On the Electribe I have:
If I switch the cable to my EMX-1, the Microbrute syncs immediately.
I'm overlooking something really simple, aren't I?
Edit: I can get it to receive and send sync just fine over USB with Ableton.

On the Electribe I have:
- Clock mode: internal
Global MIDI Ch: 01
MIDI Receive Filter: Off
MIDI Send Filter: Off
If I switch the cable to my EMX-1, the Microbrute syncs immediately.

Thanks.tonalVoltage wrote:I also have a microbrute and it seems to sync fine with the midi cable. The only other thing I can think of to try is to set the microbrute's midi input channel to 01 using the free firmware software. I think by default it's set to 16.
I've spent a couple of hours trying to get it to sync with various devices.
Electribe (master) -> Microbrute (slave): no
Electribe (master) -> EMX-1 (slave): no
EMX-1 (master) -> Electribe (slave): no
EMX-1 (master) -> Microbrute (slave): yes
Electribe (master) -> Ableton (slave): no
Ableton (master) -> Electribe (slave): no
Ableton (master) USB -> Electribe (slave): yes
Electribe (master) USB -> Ableton (slave): yes
I've also hooked the Electribe up to my audio interface MIDI IN and fired up MIDI-OX to see what's going along the wire, and it sees nothing.
I'm beginning to wonder whether the MIDI IN/OUT interfaces on my Electribe are faulty, or whether it's a "feature" of v1.05 software. If I could get the 1.05 software image again, I would consider downgrading to 1.03 to see if the problem was still there.

With the same settings in Global Parameters as yours, mine (1.03) is sending MIDI Clock ticks all right, even when the sequencer is off.SadPaper wrote:I've also hooked the Electribe up to my audio interface MIDI IN and fired up MIDI-OX to see what's going along the wire, and it sees nothing
Is your unit connected both with USB and MIDI?
Mine uses MIDI DIN only.
Did you disable the MIDI real time events filter in MIDI-OX?
FWIW, I had a similar problem with my Eventide Space: it sends and receives MIDI clock on MIDI DIN only and if only USB is... unplugged.
USB supersedes classic serial MIDI these days.
Keep us posted.

This is a problem I've had with lots of different gear. If a device is connected to a computer directly through a USB port and receives any kind of tempo information, it completely disables the MIDI Out clock signals. You can only use MIDI or USB, but not both together for some reason.Poumtschak wrote:FWIW, I had a similar problem with my Eventide Space: it sends and receives MIDI clock on MIDI DIN only and if only USB is... unplugged.
To fix this, you need to avoid using that USB port and get a USB-to-MIDI adapter to connect the Electribe to a computer via MIDI IN/OUT instead. From there, use standard MIDI cables to carry the data chain to other gear.

Not to splinter the conversation but I'm starting to wonder if there is a firmware issue in regard to clock sync. I have almost the opposite issue where over USB it receives everything but transmits everything except clock sync. My problem is specific to the iConnectMIDI4+ but works fine over Din. It also works with every other USB or Din setup I can think of. I have a ticket open with iConnect but based on the captures I've done the Electribe2 just decides it's not going to send clock data when connected to certain devices.

This maschine is totally crap or I don't understand it completlty?
I try to sync Traktor (on Mac) with my electribe. I use midi out on my audio interface to send midi clock to electribe as a slave - won't work. It just don't start when I hit play (maybe it needs some "start" infromation? Not only clock?)
On the same time syncing with Eventide Timefactor as a slave works well.
So I tried to set Electribe as master and it doesn't send ANY midi clock on ANY channel.
I have 1.03 firmware & tried the same settings as You. What's wrong with this device? Anybody can help me?

Just to check I understand correctly:faolitarna wrote:(about MIDI problems)
[ Traktor (on Mac)]-USB--Audio Interface-MIDI OUT----cable----MIDI IN-[ Electribe ]
Does not work.
[ Electribe ]-MIDI OUT----cable----MIDI IN-[ Eventide Timefactor ]
Works.
But you say that Electribe set as MIDI Master is not sending any clock signal? I would have thought that if the Timefactor is sync'd with the Electribe then there would be a clock sync. Can you verify this?

Yes, connections beetween Traktor and Electribe looks like You present it. And I mean, Eventide is sync'd with Traktor (so I'm sure I configured midi interface correctly).
With Electribe as a master, either Traktor nor Eventide don't recive any signal. I also tried different cables.
So:
[ Electribe ]-MIDI OUT----cable----MIDI IN-[ Eventide Timefactor ]
Don't works

Thanks for help! But it still doesn't work. So maybe anyone can tell me how should it work?
If I had midi cable, which I'm sure is sending clock, I just plug it into Electribe hit play and it should start playing in time?
Now when I hit "play" button it just lights and when I hit it second time it just flashes (pause?). Maybe problem is easier? :/ And there is no audio, I'm started to thinking that it needs some midi info for "pattern start" or something like that?

I sync my Microbrute just fine via Midi. This doesn't help, I know.
