This seems incredibly good value.

They've had numerous Kronos listings on Ebay...most described as brand new demos. So, if I were you I'd give them a call and verify whether or not you'd be getting a factory sealed Kronos. I picked up a factory sealed Kronos-61 for $2,379 last week from a local shop. Call around in your area. You may get lucky.

My personal experience with ProAudiostar has been very good. I have purchased about 2k worth of gear from them in the past with zero problems. Of course YMMV.

If I recall that's what my local Alto Music was selling them for. BRAND NEW.

Real helpful post KSynth!

It is possible to get a Kronos 61 in Australia for less than $2,500 AUD. Ask your dealer to better that price. They will NOT go hungry if they match that price.

To give some perspective: €3000 = 3686$.
So in Europe the Kronos is ~75% more expensive than in the US?

Got to remember that prices in the US do not reflect any taxes. You may have to pay taxes in the USA if you buy from an online retailer from your own state. There are no 'federal taxes' per se - there is a 4.7% import duty on Electronic Synths - that may actually be 0% if the Kronos is imported from some 17 favored countries.

The other factor is what margins the local sales company wants to see. I'm pretty sure that all the sales companies around the world pay pretty much the same price for product from KORG +- currency exchange rates.

Given the above I guess it's just a factor of the local sales distributor + dealer greed levels. Wink

Well, apparently I am a heartless bastard. The chain I purchased this from has gone into receivership and many stores will close. So please pay as much as you can for a Kronos because they WILL go hungry if you pay $2,500 AUD.
