Logic automation was able to map keyboard dials to (e.g.) synth parameters, for example: to map DRIVE control to Logic's Retro Synth Cutoff: Add retro synth to project open smart controls (or double click synth in main window) select cutoff knob click (i) info button click learn turn DRIVE knob up ...

After connecting the editor, I find that the knobs send sysex events that are recordable in Logic or in MIDI Monitor, but cannot be used to control the device without some modification of the data packet. For example, turning the DRIVE wheel to 90% sends: (pasted from logic) 3 3 1 25 SysEx 66 48 96 ...

I have had no problem using it to control midi devices, the only thing that doesn't happen is that the knobs do not send midi events.

Even absent that, it's a perfectly fine instrument.

Well, we are on OSX 10.10 now, 4+ years later, so any advice then is unlikely to be helpful. However, I know MINECRAFT prefers an older version of Java - java 6, and I'm using that on my machine, and the SV-1 editor works for me on OSX 10.11 beta and uses the installed java 6, so here goes. https ...

Attaching iConnectMidi to an iPad, I find the following additional events: Favourite keys send midi events Sound type and subtype (Piano/ 1-6 etc) send midi events Sound path on/off switches (amp, effect) send midi events This seems to mean that as long as you don't turn the dials, you could drive ...

Noise with amp notes - my amateur opinion

Hi Not a question, but info. I've seen a bunch of posts here about (white) noise when turning the AMP on. To me this is quite clearly noise that's recorded in the sample. Why? 1) it only affects a couple of the electric pianos. The acoustic piano is fine, as are most of the other samples. 2) it's ...

Thanks, I know about the manual, but it's insufficiently clear for an inexperienced person. I've now found a good text description of how to disassemble, including details on the part I found difficult - getting the keybed out. linked here for reference: http://www.justanswer.com/electronic-musical ...

Well I opened it up, but couldn't work out how to lift the keybed out. From above the contacts are not visible, so I surmise they must be attached to the bottom of the orange circuit board. I also have oddly spaced keys, and there's no visible reason for this inside the unit; there must be some ...

Note that the editor has no trouble reading and updating the console's dial settings, so there must be some mechanism, and that mechanism might be via midi.

More investigation required.

The editor works just fine with only the editor (and not the separate USB package) installed.

I didn't bother to install the USB driver, and haven't noticed any missing functionality - are you sure you need it?

In general, a USB driver is not necessary for operation. I don't know what they could have added, perhaps a special low latency path?

I'm *very* happy with my Roland KC110, would buy it again in a shot.

It's a little smaller than a file crate, it lasts 12 hours and counting on batteries (great for parties) and sounds awesome on piano or attached to an mp3 player etc.

how do you know this?

monitoring midi events in Logic Pro shows nothing happening with knobs, but does show played notes.

Actual instruments listed in service manual

Check out the service manual: From another post: Join the KORG SV-1 Users on Facebook- then check out the Files section- right at the bottom. In the manual, see page 2: "target specification lists the instruments being modelled" For example, for Bank 2: E.Piano2: Wurlitzer (two types), Yamaha CP80 ...
