I'm not quite sure if I really know what you want to do, but why don't you use the 10's hold feature?
(Just press the ./HOLD button twice)

Keep in mind that the 88-keys version has hammer-action keys...

Instead of using the SD card, you could just record the audio directly via your soundcard, using any (also freeware) software...

I've once recorded the MIDI from the audition in Cubase.
Worked perfectly, without any problems... try recording in any software sequencer!

My TR sometimes changes the Attack Time automatically, so when I play, suddenly the sound is very low because it takes a long time until it reaches maximum peak.
Maybe this could be your problem?

Now I just have to learn how to navigate the programs using Cubase... at the moment, the TR always switches to the GM bank when I try to change the program...
