*.ins file for the EK-50
I have been looking into the matter of an *.ins file for the EK-50. I rather assumed I would have to write one, and was uncertain how to accommodate the fact that the EK-50 Voice Numbering is based on a universal MSB=121. The *.ins files I have previously known best have all had multiple MSBs, and ...

Re: where to post ?
I have had an exchange of emails with Technical Support at Korg UK. It seems the pa 500 is the most immediate precursor of the EK-50. An */ins file for that is available at https://www.korg.com/us/support/download/software/0/93/2481/. That file is structured in banks determined by the LSB, and banks ...

Re: where to post ?
Morning, voip, and everyone else. I thought I had posted an acknowledgement of your last, voip, yesterday, but it doesn't seem to have 'gone' or 'taken'. I am very grateful indeed for your interest and effort. Thank you ! You're right - that txt file is not a fully-set-out *.ins file. I have ...

Re: where to post ?
Thank you, voip (VOIP ? Voip?) for your input. yes, grahamid is idgraham. I must have registered more than once ! I had a Korg 03 R?W long before I got the EK-50 a couple if years ago. I had to check my passwords records to get in to make this post, and probably tripped from one id to the other. If ...

where to post ?
Good morning, from Wales UK. I'm looking here for guidance where to more specifically post an enquiry. I'm a member of the EK-50 forum, but that is a relatively quiet forum, and I think my enquiry may actually be more widely relevant to Korg users, in any case. So: I'm looking to make an instrument ...

Accessing common 'effects' for EK-50 voices
If you would be interested in a very direct way of controlling various basic 'effects' applied to the EK-50 voices, read on....... I have recently acquired a Doremidi USB/Midi host unit, which allows me to access all the EK-50's voices from my Kawai 88-note keyboard. (To play both keyboards at once ...

Point of comparison re piano sounds and performance
I came on this a day or two ago, and thought it might be of interest to any members here who similarly hadn't seen it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSApAFi9OXA The guy looks like he's playing piano, and sounds like he's playing piano. My experience with the EK-50 doesn't remotely match this, and ...

Synchro start to recording?
I'm sorry - I visited the forum to post a few days ago, and there was some sort of glitch on the actual site. It evidently recorded my title but nothing else. Trying again: I'm trying to use the synchro start feature in relation to recording.........but whether I go <synchro><record> or <record ...

Keybed
From what you say, I think you might not find the EK-50 satisfactory, at least as a sole instrument. Speaking as a pianist myself, if I really want to 'play piano', I go to another instrument. (I have a very elderly Clavinova CLP 100, and a Kawai ES100). The EK-50 doesn't (to me) feel like a piano ...

EK-50 with computer
Since making a post about using user-songs, I've been thinking further....... So far I have used the USB stick facility to take user-songs to a computer to edit and tweak the midi-recording, and bring them back to the EK-50 in an amended form. This works perfectly well, but is a bit cumbersome. I'd ...

User songs and keyboard registrations
Good morning, group, from Wales UK It seems to me that if I play a user song, and wish to play along with it - an additional part, e.g. - I cannot set any fresh registration for the live play - the EK-50 will recognise only what was set at the time of the recording? Is this the case ? Disappointing ...

Drum styles - further thoughts
First, to do with tempo: So far as I know, Korg do not publish any list of the styles by default BPM. But my limited experience is that the BPM value shown in the display may be initially a bit misleading. For instance, one style I use regularly is 217 Bebop. That shows in the screen a default bpm ...

?Drum styles
I, too, use the drum elements of available styles to play against in an exploratory way, as distinct from assembling recordings. The '4-substyles' aspect of what the EK-50 offers in many cases seems to me less a route for smooth elaboration through a piece, than a collection of related beats. So ...

Effects - some specific questions
I am beginning to explore the 'Effects' options on the EK-50. In a post on this Forum in March 2021, MarekBujko said: You can send 2 FX to Layers (Lower/Up1,2,3) only. And the manual itself says: “Default” indicates the optimum effect that is set for the keyboard se t by default.[/i] My impression to ...
