The drop in quality is caused by the analog to digital, and digital to analog conversions. The cable doesn't matter. Cheap soundcards WILL. Expensive soundcards do a much better job at converting between digital and analog signals. Get to know where the conversions occur, and always try to minimize ...

Not 100% sure but I'm guessing that 127 is the standard max. This is a midi thing involving the number of combinations that can be stored in 7 bits. (the other bit is used for something I bet, but I've never looked at the actual spec) Lol, I'm a software engineer so these things stand out to me :P ...

Typically, a keyboard part is a very short (milliseconds) loop, which creates a tone. You can play a melody with it by pitching it up and down, and having notes of different lengths. The keyboard part can also function like a drum part, playing back for example a single piano note, and at different ...

I think you'll find the emx very suitable indeed if you want to do stuff like those tracks you mentioned. i'd recommend going for that. I dont know about the mpc really, but the esx is definitely not limited to hip-hop, in fact it's capable of quite a lot of different styles. The sounds in the emx ...

that's only going to annoy the s**t out of you. it's like saying I'll have this packet of two cigarettes, and when i've smoked those two, I'll buy another packet of two cigarettes. Really, get a 128mb card, how much more expensive can it be? note that if you use an xd card and a smartmedia adapter ...

Hitting the mic/line switch is no different than killing the dry signal at my mixer. This solution is not really acceptable, I need something that can do this automatically, my hands are very often busy right at this point (the end of a 16 beat phrase is where the little changes kick in)

new tubes, depending on the tubes, will help lower the noise level. you said for the noise?? The tubes are new as machine!!! one day life! but for the mono problems!??! any ideas?? The tubes that come with the electribes are kinda crappy. You can swop them for other tubes, giving different kinds of ...

making a loop

Hey, I wish to do what seems like a very simple thing, I want to seamlessly go from playing live music, into playing a loop. This seems like such an easy thing to do with my KP3 but I am tearing my head out trying to get it working properly. When I tempo sync it to my korg electribe the sync seems ...

I don't know about the single output not working. Why are you connecting via the headphones at all? You should connect the L/Mono to one speaker, and the R to the other speaker with 1/4" cables. Sadly, the noise is normal. The ESX makes a soft hiss all the time. You just have to get used to it ...

When you are testing with different headphones, are you by any chance using the same 1/4" to 3.5mm adapter? If so, the adapter is faulty and not connecting the R channel. The electribes do not have balanced outputs, so balanced cables and inputs are not going to matter. You will get a decent signal ...
