If Reason is receiving but not recording your tweaks, then the problem is with Reason, not your Electribe. Reason needs to be configured to record controller data.

MicroKontrol and Kontrol49...

Are these really discontinued, or just not sold in the US? Some European sellers claim to still carry them.

Also I will +10 the person who said that it's not about music theory but about having a spiritual connection to music... that's not quite how I would put it BUT... the quality of your music is directly affected by the purpose of the music you make.... A true musician primarily makes music for ...

I think this is more a case of "are these machines musical instruments?", or better yet: "is creating real music possible with these machines?". And I think that the answer to those is a big fat YES. You hit the nail on the head there. As for what a "real musician" is: if creating your music gives ...

If by "beats" you mean drum patterns, your best bet is to make them yourself. That's true no matter what instruments you use, and the EMX-1 definitely has the tools you need to create good beats.

Knowledge of music theory is a powerful and useful thing. The more theory I learn, the more its value becomes apparent. But I won't go so far as to say that it is necessary for the creation of good music. In my book, the most vital ingredient in good music is sincerity; in other words, a spiritual ...

Like you hinted, it really depends on what your personal needs are. They appear to be very different machines for very different purposes.

Yes, it works very well. You can record and play back all pattern data and pattern changes on the fly. Specific techniques depend on what DAW you want to use.

it probably used to be an EMX1 quiz. They needed a KP3 quiz, so they changed all the EMX1's to KP3's, but missed one.

If you just want to record it the way you hear it, there should be no need to record individual parts. I routinely record my EMX straight into my laptop, and it sounds fine. Your recordings sound like something is set wrong somewhere. Like Cyberheater said, check your input gain and other levels.

Those things usually get announced at the big trade shows, NAMM and Musikmesse. Musikmesse was just a month ago, and there was no announcement of a new Korg VA synth. So there's no reason to believe one is coming soon.

But on other hand, a 10 years old Novation Supernova costs more that brand new Radias... ...but less than a brand new Virus? Or more? I don't know, but regardless, if you know the Supernova really is the best thing for your needs, it might be worth springing for it. Or saving up for it if necessary.

All the TIs have the mid-range "FullSpeed" USB v2.0 chipset @ 12Mbps (Megabits per second), which is incidently the fastest that USB v1.1 can achieve. Hence the confusion.
So they have USB 2.0, but it's only as fast as USB 1.1 ?!? Hence the confusion, indeed.

Maybe what I will say now may sound strange but I feel frustrated that it takes so long time to record in audio everything when you only have 2 or 4 audio outputs from sound unit. Keep in mind, the Virus USB audio is also only 2 or 4 tracks: "...From inside a host application, the plug-in enables ...
