+1. Lame. How not to emulate a real string section. This guy should read through some orchestral scores. Oh, that's right, reading makes you less funky. & then most of the video was spent pounding at what sound like very pedestrian 808 samples we've heard a million times and which can be had for ...

So the answer to this appears to be - use exclusively Combis, each one set to have one (or more) of its parts receive on the MIDI channel sent by the upper (small) keyboard.

How to use a second MIDI controller w/ Kronos

Searched the threads - not gonna read through all them. Wish every comment made about Kronos was in flat-file like Twitter. Much easier to search. The days of tree-branch discussion are coming to an end. Everyone goes off-topic anyway, and everyone basically wants to know the same stuff. Here's my ...

Tonight on the gig I taped index cards on the right and left sides of the Yamaha S-90 ES to force myself to work within 73 keys. No problem. It's not just the weight difference, which is nominal, but the overall size difference. If you have to pull this thing on and off a stage every night, the ...

As a live player I disagree. Having it all in a relatively bulletproof dedicated box with tons of live performance helps makes sense to me. It's in no way meant to compete against a studio computer-based DAW system. That's not the point. But apples to apples (Motif XF, Roland Fantom-G [still ...

You know I was trying out selections from the show I play along with some Chopin Etudes with a restricted 73 key active key range on my 88 note controller. Interesting that almost everything played easily with no missing notes. Even the Chopin only rarely exceeded the treble high note and never the ...

Re: Make it A to C!

Maybe I'm just a visually oriented person, but I simply hate looking at 76 keys E to G, or 73 keys E to E. It just doesn't look right. I could never come to terms w/ my Trinity Pro back in the day, and I've never had a 76 since then. I wish they'd make a weighted 76 A to C -- like an acoustic piano ...

- I never buy from the sales guy who matches a price. You to the first store and spend so much time there asking question and they put a lot of time in to answering your questions to get the sale...if i go down the road and the guy in the second store says ill match the first guy...i say no thnks ...

Yeah I guess if you are playing straight piano/keyboard without playing left-hand bass, which most people probably don't, then this is fine. Today I will experiment by setting my Roland A-90 to this layout and seeing how I do with it.

Keyboard layout of 73

Deal-breaker for me (or makes the decision easier - 88 or 61). The 73 note is the "classic" (which I hate) ends-at-E in the lower end, making the lowest partial octave useless for left-hand bass, since you need to get down to a C. All electric bass players play 5 string at least for this very reason ...

And yet for under a grand I could throw together a low-end PC with Cubase 6 on it. Why even put a MIDI/audio sequencer on these things? MIDI/audio playback, yes. But who would not use a computer for any type of recording audio or MIDI?

Seems like a lot of cake for a hardware unit in the two zero one one. Just sayin'. I think they're capitalizing on the dwindling percentage of hardware holdouts or well-heeled touring guys. I could put this on a credit card and justify it via my steady show job. But for half the MAP or whatever on ...

Hey guys - I figured out the problem. The previous player had been using Combis - like 2 or 3 B-3s layered on on the other - yuk. So I went to program mode and found a few quite nice sounds that will work just fine. So I need to make them in to Combis because my other sounds are in Combi mode and I ...
