can I just hi-jack this thread for a second and add one more thing? Seeing as you pretty much already asked all the features that I want to use the new electribe for... there´s really only one thing I´d love to do: Can you, while playing (=sequencer running), just hit record on a track and play in y ...

what settings did you use on the ES-1 to actually sequence the vBeats?

I have them synced (clock only) via MIDI cable anyways, but I haven´t really found a proper way to send notes from the ES-1 without turning off the ES-1´s internal sounds?

maybe the solution is just too obvious >_<

as an addendum:

if you put a "slide" marker on a step via slide edit, it will slide the marked step to the NEXT note.
(this had me confused in the beginning, might be good to know ^^).

a Korgforums-enabled collab: Xenosapien feat. Analoguekid!

Hey Folks, thought I´d share this here - a track I made in collaboration with user Analoguekid, we "met" here in this very forum! Originally it started out as a "remix" of his track "Leaving The Future In The Past", but in the end it was more of a collaboration because I completely took his (ambient) ...

Not Dubstep specifically (haven´t tried either, though), but I managed to get a pretty nasty Drum'n'Bass sound with the Keys... Poly Ring mode or Unison mode, with about 25% detune and pitch EG for that little slide at the beginning, rather high decay overall for a more evolving type of sound, and ...

nope - it´s a 16 step sequencer. that is all it is going to record, and it is ALWAYS quantizing to a 1/16th grid. the volca keys has a "flux" mode which allows to record unquantized notes, but the other 2 Volcas do not have that feature. this is why by doubling the speed, you shorten the (perceived) ...

they´re analog oscillators... they´re never going to be perfectly in phase/synced. it´s called "drift" and many digital/virtual synths take a lot of effort simulating this for its warmth. if this is right after you power the unit on, however, keep in mind that the auto-tuning feature of the volcas ta ...

Hey Martyn - it´s Martin/Xenosapien ;) are you using MIDI to sync? or are you trying to sync via the audio-Sync IN on the Volca? I´m not using Cubase, but if you´re using MIDI, it should suffice to activate "send clock" on the MIDI output settings in Cubase for the Tascam. You may have to set it to t ...

haha that´s the comment I´ve been dreading ever since someone told me the melody could be confused with Enjoy The Silence (and essentially, the first 8 notes played happen to be in a similar order/key - not on purpose, though! ^^) but actually, thank you - I am taking this as a compliment (and it l ...

could also be the MIDI channel.

I´m pretty sure the Volcas all default to MIDI channel 1.

see if you can get your keyboard to send on "omni" (=all 16 channels) and/or set either the keyboard to channel 1, or the Volca (consult the manual on how to do that) to the appropriate channel.

the Volcas in general have a pretty (in relation to other Synths I´ve used) loud "noisefloor"... and the PCM samples are really lo-fi, so I´m not surprised you hear noise in there... you should compare it with another unit maybe at a local music shop to rule out a faulty unit, but i´d say it´s a nor ...

@analoguekid: just being a smartass here, really - apologies for that - but: the keys is "mono", too! I think you were thinking monoPHONIC? in that case, maybe you´re in for a surprise: the Volca Bass has not one, but THREE step sequencers - one for each of the oscillators... and yes, you can ...

huh, I pretty much immediately "discovered" that as soon as I got my hands on my Volca Bass... kind of a rather logical deduction since it worked on the stutter rate of the Beats... ^^ I was, however, not quite sure if my ears were playing tricks on my when I tried it on the Keys... it´s still there, ...
