This is a very old thread, but I just picked up an ES-1 mkii off a dude who demolished the samples and demo tunes. I am curious, revi, if you're still listening, did this procedure work for you? Back to the idea that you say you don't hear the "usb device hooked up" sound when you attached the kontrol49. When you hook it up, and go into device manager (start> run> devmgmt.msc) do you see any devices listed with an exclamation point? Also, did you try reseating it into another USB port? Are ...

Pop the sucker open, and take a look at the ribbon cable. Also, see if you can reseat the pads. It may have to do with something like the Kontrol49 initializing the state, and if the pads are configured to send these notes (in the scene), and the pads are physically pressed, then it might initialize ...
