Oh and as far as signal routing, you'll want to put the A1 in the amps effects loop. Running the A1 before the amp won't work because your gain channels will be distorting all the effects, running after won't work because the output will be too hot - for powering speakers not line level for effect ...

For controlling multiple items in a guitar rig via midi you need midi "in" and "thru" connectors. From the foot controller you go from the "out" to the "in" of the first item in the chain. Yes, the battery can be removed from the holder. I recently replaced mine. It does not come out easily, don't be afraid to use a little force.
