I used to be a workstation fanatic, but I don't know why anyone would want to be limited by the internal ram of a workstation. Vi's and plugins are definitely the way to go. IMO I just don't understand why Korg doesn't come up with a kickass 88-key Midi controller keyboard with big sliders ...

Cool. When I get my new computer all set up, I am going to give the sliders a try. Hopefully, my latency won't be an issue with usb on mac. I'm hyper-latency-sensitive! ;)

Korg M3 - firewire or usb to minimize latency

Hi, I'm upgrading to a mac and looking at using my M3 as a controller playing VI's. I am worried about the latency. On my slow PC, I have about a half second latency using usb. I'm hoping that this won't be much of an issue with a quad core i-7 mac. My question: Is it worth getting the exb-fw or am ...

OK... I'll try that out... Thanks... This will work well with what I am trying to do in creating original drum patterns, but how about if I want to create a song that is 64 measures long in 9/4 time? You have to "print" the time signature into the sequence. It will assume 4/4, so you have to set ...

This is kinda cool: A friend of mine had no choice but to rack-mount his M3. Obviously it's way too wide for a rack, so he designed an "out-board" rack holder-type thing that holds the M3 just outside of the rack. It's reallllly cool. Idk how he attached the M3 to the arms that came out of the rack ...

If all you want to use is the M3 sequence w/ M3 sounds, you don't need anything like that. You can mix the sequence down to a wav file and transfer it to your PC with a usb flash.

I don't know what you mean by basic, but I think that the analog string patches in the M3 are very good. This is one of its strengths imo.

You don't need a MIDI cable, but you do need to install the Korg drivers. This is a two-step process (unlike most other devices) - first you install the software that you'll download from Korg's website. Then you plug in the M3, run some kind of setup program that you'll have already installed from ...

Using Korg M3 as a computer MIDI controller

Hi everyone, Please excuse the stupidity of my questions, but I am new to using VST's and computer recording. I am trying to set up my Korg M3 to act as a controller to play samples on my computer. I recently acquired Kontakt and plugged my usb from my Korg M3 directly into my computer, thinking ...

Saving samples

Hello, I am working on a film score and the director is coming over tomorrow night to listen to some of the progress. I've worked with samples on computers, but I find myself a little confused about the M3 samples and saving patches. In fact, I am worried that if I cut off my M3, I will lose the new ...

Hi cowtothesky, The tech who repaired it said that it had a corrupted internal hard drive and he had to completely re-load the memory. The M3 doesn't have an internal hard drive but it does have an internal SD card (a type of solid state disk), so I guess that must be what he said. Replacing the SD ...

Thanks for the info, Rob. But, I think this is something that should be given a higher priority. All I was doing when it happened to me was recording and hitting the compare button several times. Standard fast recording stuff. I am terrified that this will happen again, and I have quite a few ...
