I wanted to do something like that when I recorded this cover of "Popcorn". I wanted arpeggios following the song's chord structure. I ended up doing what you suggested - recording a sequence for each of the six chords used in the song - Am, Em, C, D F and G - and then "playing" them in real time ...

VolCalypso - Instrumental using only Volca Keys
VolCalypso. An experimental Caribbean-style improvisation using only a Volca Keys with no external processing. Recorded entirely using a Korg Volca Keys, The bass line is a sequence recorded in Poly mode, allowing me to improvise over it using up to two notes at a time, I recorded the bass/steel ...

I'm 53, and I use my Volca keys on my home recordings. I'm a multi-instrumentalist, so the Volca can sometimes end up in places where you wouldn't necessarily expect it to, like on a comedy Irish ballad alongside a ukulele and a mandolin, providing a haunting backing loop for a desert soundscape ...

"Desert Mirage" - instrumental based on Volca Keys
Here is an instrumental I recorded using my Korg Volca Keys along with other, mostly acoustic instruments. I used the Korg's sequencer for the background loop, and then added an acoustic archtop guitar, electric upright bass, home-built 6-string banjo and chromatic harmonica. Please let me know what ...

Volca Keys - pitch bend range
Does anyone know whether it is possible to increase the Volca Keys' MIDI pitch-bend range beyond the standard ±2 semitones? It's good that it responds to pitch-bend commands at all, but I would be interested to know if there is a hidden feature to change the range.

It's the opposite with me - I wish my Volca Keys DIDN'T respond to velocity, or that you could at least disable it. My MIDI keyboard doesn't have a fixed-velocity setting, and I don't like monosynths to respond to velocity! If you play a legato run and the first note is too quiet, it stays at that ...

Let's see. You want a £120 synth to sound like a Memorymoog? Not just a Minimoog (it can get close) but a three-oscillator-per-voice, eight-note-polyphonic vintage Moog synth? It's about as likely as a £20 ukulele is to sound like a Gibson Les Paul Custom. However... the Volca Keys is a powerful l ...

Volca Keys - disable velocity?
I've been using my Volca Keys with a 5-octave MIDI controller, which makes it a lot more playable. The only issue is that my controller has no facility to disable velocity, and I find it tricky to play at a consistent volume. Is there some internal setting on the Volca Keys to disable MIDI velocity ...

"Popcorn" cover using only Volca Keys (and program
Here is a short version of Gershon Kingsley's classic instrumental "Popcorn" (originally popularised by Hot Butter) using only my Volca Keys and a programmed drum part. Drums were programmed in HammerHead 1.0 and arranged in Audacity before being transferred to my Fostex MR-8 digital multitrack. The ...
