Sina,

I never owned a GS-1, this is a photo of the original Yamaha Catalogue in the early 80ies. Some of this stuff (catalogues) I am collecting.

"Look"ing forward to your first results.

Hi Synergy,

CONGRATULATIONS!

A: TX-816
B: MOD-7 (delayed & detuned)
C: MOD-7

Thank you Peter. Any prize? Just kidding. I figured all that electronic components (such as high end crystal clock, DA converter, proprietary chips and such which Yamaha is known for) had to contribute some to the higher quality sounds (at least to my ears).

I should have bet, as I was sure that you will ask me that question.

... good ears, by the way!

I am not sure about the TX quality in the high range. Furthermore I think the fact that each modul was feeding a single channel in the mixer also maybe contributed a little bit to the sound.

Additionally maybe the fact that I was playing the sequence via OASYS' keyboard and for sure played velocity values higher then 100 maybe had an influence as well.

The achieved results of MOD-7 are to me very good.. and these are "just" DX E-Pianos.

Sina,

here is another example

All sounds are 100% OASYS, as EFX etc.

Righteously mellow. Nice tweaking, Peter!

Can hardy wait for Korg to figure out why their website refuses my Public ID so I can get Mod-7!

I've gotta say that I'm completely blown away with MOD-7. Especially with this "import DX7 sounds" thing. I just imported first bank of 32 sounds and I can't stop playing them. And OASYS does a SUPERB job of loading DX7 patches and sounds absolutely fantastic.

Cheers,
vEddY.

OK, we be jammin' now!!! Thanks, Korg for the quick fix.

Mod-7 has got to be one of the most cost-effective products in the whole industry.

Of course it's subjective, but for me it is the best collection of all the OASYS tools, bar none, except KARMA

For anyone out there on the fence, the demos don't really tell the full MOD-7 story. There are so many programs that are organic and evolve over time. The cutoff for the demos doesn't let you get the real flavor of an awful lot of the Mod-7 choices.

If you favor almost any genre except perhaps Jazz and Country, Mod-7 is a must have, IMO. $249.00 is q very small tab for such powerful stuff.

My heartiest thanks to everyone who contributed to those selections. You excelled!

We are indeed fortunate to have received so many fine collections in just 2 1/2 years.

Back in 1984, my first synth was the DX7. I programmed quite a few patches. To download the original presets and hear them again is quite a flashback to something so etched into my memory. Compared to the SY series (which can also be mimicked), a lot of them sound kind of cheesy - Orchestra, Grand Prix, Volcano, etc, but the experience is so dang fun!!!!!!!!

Thousands and thousands of downloadable presets. (200,000 just in Kevin Nolan's FILE) I still find it amazing that Korg pulled that kind of backwards compatibility off (with instruments from a different manufacturer, no doubt), all the while advancing the VPM engine to new heights! =D> =D> =D>

The MOD-7 is fantastic.I started many years ago with FM (DX7) and this thing is so much more it's unreal.
Now I wished I had more time to program this beast.
I have to put my old Gizmo (DX7) with the OASYS and compare some stuff. But hell, never enough time :)

Ditto! I had my DX-IIFD in 1987-88. Mod-7 brings back all sorts of memories.
