he isnt popular in the modern world,
you wont like his music, i can guarantee you...
i love it though.

he uses the mx to make music, and perform it live
his programming skillz are advanced!
and he doesnt get as much credit as he deserves!
i always feel like

If you get the book Behind the Beat, you can see that Jay Dilla used an ESX-1, and Madlib has one in his studio.

I went to see ada (cocoon records) a couple of weeks ago, she was using an esx, and the other sampler one that is the model down. Also raadioactive man did a live set on a couple of electribes and an mpc. absolutley amazing, playing dubstep, house, breaks, techno, really showed me my little box can do!

now define what "sucessful electribe artist" means....

That could be anything. I find myself a sucessful electribe artist and currently I'm not playing shows and am not very famous...

And besides it's not about your tool it's about what you can do with it... I've heard of people still making jungle and drum n bass breaks by cutting and pasting pure audio files in sound forge. And it sounds great.
Also vocal effects and such.

I think what is being asked is who are some popular artists that just happen to use the electribes?

Like a Tim is solid/nice. I liked this guy since his early SEEsaw/DJAX recs. days
(I've never let go of any of his vinyl's I own yet!).

Also, another techno wizard using the 'Tribes since day 1 is Christian Vogel. I have the Tresor 2disc CD (Dungeon Master) http://www.discogs.com/release/132633 - with the 50min. live set done with an Electribe ES-1/ER-1 and a Nord Modular (not his best live set but a good example of what the early 'tribe units can do).
He also uses the newer ESX (and Nord) in this live clip here:
