Good Brass Section

Post by pkpdjh »

At the moment, I need a decent brass section sound that would fit over pop or Latin pop music. I want it to sound as organic and acoustic as possible, not synth brass. I kind of like the "Mono Brass" and "Full Brass Section" the best, but I'm wondering if anyone here has some tweaks they can recommend. I have a big set of gigs this weekend, so if anyone want to post this patch to the web, I'd be thrilled!

Thanks,
Dave ...

Is everyone else as disappointed with the brass sounds as I am? I like the board, but don't like the brass sections or the solo trumpet. Yamaha is better here.

I agree!
I use the SCAT BLATT PHATT brass patch on my TR in quite a few of the songs the band performs, but there's no equivalent on my M3, so I'm in the process of creating one, combining Sfz Brass, Trumpets & stereo Brass,
Cup Brass Ensemble, and Accent Sfz trumpet.
I'm getting close, thinking maybe just a little EQ work will get me there, but this is for my needs with the band, and it' is a bit synthy sounding atm.
You can hear it here, http://www.songramp.com/mod/mps/viewtra ... ckid=70125, if you like.
I hope this helps to at least get you started.
:D
Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try layering some of that stuff like you are.

Yours is good for that song, I just need something rounder, less piercing.

What I have done some time ago is (on a Extreme but it works equally on the M61) is to add to a brass a little string and a little hammond, both very soft but enough to add some punch and thickness.

Yeah, I think the brass on this board kinda sucks too. However, with exception of the solo trumpet. I think it's fantastic. Surprised you don't like it because it has a Spanish flair to it IMO. Have your band play la bamba and solo over it. Good times!
