Problem that occures on pa800/pa2x

Definitely there is problem with loading OS!
I don't know what precisely is happening, but everytime I load OS or load some new set But only on loading complete set, not styles or preformance separetely,
THE FIRST BUTTON I touch comes with a dead led immidiately.
The rest makes no problems.
I loaded OS 5-6 times, and been trying some sets, and alyays after finished operation if I touch a button that has belonging led, that led works no more!
Always!
I do hope that someone from KORG read this.
And I am very carefull with my keyboards, not to forget to mention.

This is the one I use (I have 4 of them throughout the house). Lots of suppliers if you search for UPS-1200D. You can get it from Sam's store as well

This last expirience with KORG made me sell my M3 today. I shall buy Roland Fantom intead, and am selling my Pa2x, will buy yamaha Tyros3.
So, after so many years I can say I ma very disppointed.
I am not rich enough to pay money for things that does not work.
Reason: after replacing motherboard on Pa2x, today it started to act the same way - NOT WORKING!

Problem with Pa2XPro, Repair Q's - New User
Hi Pa2X Pro owners,
I'm new to this forum and appreciate the helpful info available. Wish I had visited sooner and purchased my 2X later! Don't get me wrong, the features and flexibility are great, but reliability is a concern, especially for live performance.
This is my first Korg keyboard and maybe my last. Other kb's I have are Y and R brands, some over 12 years old - no problems.
When the LEDs on the Pa2X started to fail, I tried to figure out what could have caused this. I reloaded the most updated OS but this did not help. Must be hardware.
I phoned Korg Support in NY. The first time, the phone kept ringing with no answering system pickup. The next day, a support rep answered, but as soon as I mentioned Pa2X, the rep seemed irritated and kept repeating that I needed to go to the Korg support website. I did, and found no information addressing this problem. Frustrated, I searched the net and found this forum and answers.
Thanks for the "real " support.
I'll be taking my kb to a Korg approved service center but have some questions.
I want the service people to check for other problems too. Does Korg supply their service centers with a keyboard diagnostic system?
I live near the Atlanta, GA area (50 mile area). There are 3-4 service locations listed by Korg. Any bad experiences/recommendations?
My product info has been added to Rob's list. Does the serial number identify when the kb was built?
Any help with these questions would be greatly appreciated.
We may be a "niche" group, be we deserve to be heard.
Soon I hope to discuss the Pa2X potential not problems.

First, welcome to Korg Forums and my apologies that I had missed your post. You bought your Pa2x in Dec 08 and you've been lurking in the background for 10 months, so don't take my apology too seriously

Korg don't tell us the manufacturing dates of their products, but certainly they have records that tell them exactly the date of manufacture and who supplied them with all the internal components. Korg used several different LED suppliers during the first year of manufacture of Pa2x. One supplier's blue LED's were faulty. It's hard even for Korg to track down which Pa2x was fitted with them, I don't think the manufacturing recortds go down to that level of detail. It looks like your Pa2x which you purchased in Dec 2008 was manufactured with the faulty LEDs because Korg only diagnosed the problem in Dec 2008:
Anyway you do need to get your Pa2x to the repair center as soon as possible. Phone them up beforehand to make sure they have new panel display boards in stock. They will have already received authorization from Korg to replace the two left and right panel PCB's that run the whole length of the Pa2x and upon which all the LED's and switches are soldered. It is a complete swap that will replace every LED, switch etc with brand new ones of known good manufacture. Please also make sure that the new Panel boards are guaranteed for another year from the date of the repair.Korg's Mr Tramannoni Dec 2nd 2008 wrote: Dear Pa2X Owners,
Regarding the reports of failing/non-working LEDs, after considerable investigation and testing we have found that this issue is tied to a particular lot of LED parts. We are sure that this problem has no correlation with any other software or hardware issues, and this should make you confident the problem will not expand.
When a LED breaks, the instrument continues to work with no influence from the broken LED (apart for the missing visual interaction with the user).
According to our world-wide distributors, this LED issue is a very, very small percentage of the total units sold into the marketplace.
When a LED breaks, we suggest you contact the nearest Service Center or Distributor, and arrange for the repair. When you go to the repair shop for your scheduled appointment, the work will be done as soon as possible, by replacing the whole circuit board that the LEDs are mounted to. This is the fastest and most complete way to solve the problem for you. Please, DO NOT bring your instrument to a shop if no LEDs have broken, we will only support fixing instruments that exhibit a problem. Note that each Korg Distributor may handle this procedure somewhat differently, so be sure to speak to your local representative.
Unfortunately we are unable to provide a serial number range because we mixed the boards from the different batches during the manufacturing process. Giving an inaccurate serial number range could cause unnecessary concern. We repeat that the number of faulty units is small, and there are steps in place to deal with any problems quickly and easily.
We apologize for any problem this issue may cause you.
Sincerely yours,
The Korg Italy Team
What is somewhat worrying to me and I think might cause alarm to the whole Pa2x community, is that the two panel display PCB's on my own Pa2x were replaced in December 08 after a number of blue LED's had blown, and last week (10 months later) two more blue LED's snuffed it, so I have no LED on "Display Hold" and "Tempo Lock" any more.
Hence I do urge everyone who has these panel display boards changed, to ensure that you get a note in writing from the repair center telling you that the replacement panel boards are covered with an extended warranty of another year from the date of repair.
Best regards,
Rob
Pa2X Repair
Rob,
Thanks for responding to my post. Your suggestion to get a written extended warranty for the LED repair is a great idea.
Looks like I missed the post from Mr. Tramannoni that would have answered many of my questions. I am new to the forum format. I don't know my way around yet and need to learn the lingo.
This can be somewhat intimidating for new members. For awhile I'll be browsing/reading topics and learning. I'm not an engineer or techie, but hope to contribute in some way. If there is a forum that's a better fit, I'm open to suggestions.
What I know right now is:
I'm glad I found other Pa2X owners. (I'm not sure how many of us are out there.)
I'm going to get my keyboard repaired.
I'm going to enjoy playing it.
Appreciate your help,
Coda

Hi Coda, Welcome to the Forum. I myself was a 'newbie' to korg less than a year ago and I've learned such a lot from the good souls here. Have fun with your pa, it's a fantastic keyboard when you eventually become good friends!
