FCB1010 Pedal Connection
Hi,
About to get the full kit of M50 and looking at the above expression pedal, but wondering how these connect to the workstation? Is it using a midi cable directly to the workstation or does one need another module somewhere between (if so, what?!)
(About to get M50-88, 2x Esi nEar05 Experience speakers and expression pedal-TBC)

I have a couple and use one live. Once programmed (don't forget you need the UNO mod to make it worthwhile), you just use a single midi cable to the midi IN of your synth. In my live rig, I control 2 synths with it...
Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).
Thanks McHale.
What's the UNO mod for this? Is this how the pedal is programmed with the functions of what each button does?
When you say "worthwhile", is this meaning to be able to use for the max or needed to make it work (I'm only looking for expression pedal but this caught my eye from another post you've made-to have an expression pedal and additional memories at lift of foot would be a nice option)
Who makes the Uno so I can do a quick price search?

McHale, interesting to hear you use the FCB1010 live with m50...
i have one second-hand FCB with UNO firmware installed (i do not remember exactly which release) and have to understand i can i use it with m50 live.
for what i have understood from manuals, i can create "scenes" that when recalled send bank/program change, but when i am in one of this "scene" i can use the single switch (the ones labelled 0 to 9) to turn on/off IFX in the current program?
or assign to each switch a bank/program change and use them to change sounds?
how do you use it ?

Ok, connecting PC (laptop) to the pedal - I assume I need a USB-MIDI connector such as:

Again, starting out with this I'm looking for some simple help and pointers

I used to use an Expression, damper, and pedal switch for each synth I use (normally 2) which gets real cluttered on the floor. The FCB1010 has 10 scenes. All 10 of mine are exactly the same in the event I accidentally hit the up or down switch to cycle through them.kimu wrote:McHale, interesting to hear you use the FCB1010 live with m50...

The top 5 are my "emergency" go to patches - piano, organ, lead, analog-like brass/strings pad, and EP. The bottom 5 (right to left) are damper, portamento, susteneto, SW1 and SW2. Pedal 1 is for Expresson (CC#4) and the second pedal is for master volume (CC#7).

I borrowed a FCB1010 for a friend (over a year ago & keep forgetting to make this experiment). It's a GREAT theory.
Can I set the buttons up to act like keys? It would be nice if I could setup a song as a preset, then have 4 or so button act similar to the chord buttons on the M50.
Any ideas would be AWESOME!

I also have one. Don't know if it's possible to emulate the 4 chord keys.
In my case I control the following items:
- Main volume for one synth (of the two I use)
- Pedal for filter or something else, depending on the combi
- Leslie fast/slow
- Leslie on/off
- Sustain (more like Hold)
- 3 buttons to change the effect of the pedals
- 2 user switches
- some empty spaces.
It's really great and it has some major advantages above dedicated pedals/switches:
- Cheaper than buying 2 pedals and several switches
- It stays where you put it (when playing live separate pedals tend to move/rotate etc)
- I can program it like I want
- it fits together with my M50 in one case.
- For Leslie on/off it shows a light if it is on
Disadvantage:
- When switching combi the light for the leslie on/off (and other lights) do not necessarily correspond to the value of the korg M50. Too bad there is not an intelligent MIDI receive.

Re: FCB1010
I think you can. I believe they transmit a MIDI signal of some kind when pressed. You should be able to learn what it is that it sends and program that for each button. You'd DEFINITELY need the UNO mod though for it to be useful.michelkeijzers wrote:I also have one. Don't know if it's possible to emulate the 4 chord keys.

I have the UNO ... and I asked a question by email to the guy who made it and sells it for a very low price and got answer within a day so he is really supportive.
