List of tested MIDI controllers for iMS20.
Moderators: Sharp, X-Trade, Pepperpotty, karmathanever
What works for me with the iMS-20 via Camera Connection Kit:
- Akai LPK 25 without a powered hub (makes everything super portable)
- M-audio Oxygen 49 with a powered hub (haven't tried mapping all the controls yet, though...that's my next project)
- Korg R3 (has it's own power source, so no powered hub needed)

SLMKII Works fine on AC Power
As per subject, Novation SL MK2 works great, couldn't get it to stay on via Powered USB though, had to use a power adapter. Setting up was a total pain in the arse though! I love the implementation of midi learn in Sunrizer synth, something like this would be superb for this app.
Once fully tested I will link to my .syx template files for people.
All controls that are mappable are mapped, one advantage of the novation template editor is that it you can cut and paste and move the controls around at will to suit your workflow, so my files may not be to your liking, but its easier to move them around than to set up from scratch

Well I'm gonna answer my own question:
I finally did it via the animoog app and it may also work with touchosc and all the apps that can setup a CoreMIDI network session.
I did not manage to configure the ims20 MIDI setup so I did it from the animmog app.
I found a lot of help here:
http://hexler.net/docs/touchosc-setup-coremidi-network
Probably not a wonderful discovery but I did spend some time to find out this, so if it can help....

With the camera kit and a USB to MIDI converter for about 7 EUR (in my case from LogilLink) all my MIDI devices work with the iPad2 (via MIDI of course)
If I need portability then the M-Audio Keystation Mini 32 is conected to the kit and works very fine.

what do you mean exactly?WWWerner4Fun wrote:And you CAN record à pattern of synth ? Not record live
You can use your iPad as a soundgenerator (provided you have a synth or sound app running) with a keyboard or connect it to your DAW via midi and it will play what comes from the MIDI sequencer such as Cubase.

With korg iMS-20 on iPad you use the keaboard to record in a pattern the synth part
In this case the keaboard (via midi of course) works and you hear and see touch on the screen but if you use the record Button on the left of the keaboard (in keaboard mode active by button on the top right) of the iMS-20 nothing is recording
Only if you use live recording in the global menu of iMS-20
