Kronos - new sound libraries announced by Korg
Korg announces:
Announcing new custom Sound Libraries for the Korg Kronos, designed to take each of the nine sound engines to unheard-of heights.
The Kronos Sound Libraries are volumes of additional sounds created specifically for the next-generation Kronos Music Workstation; the single instrument that brings together nine sound engines ranging from the past to the future.
Korg will be offering two types of Kronos Sound Libraries. The EXs Expansion Sample Series*1 take advantage of Kronos’ built-in SSD, providing large amounts of PCM data. The KRS Professional Sound Series were created by pro musicians and programmers who are intimately familiar with each of the Kronos sound engines. These libraries contain skillfully crafted programs, combinations, and drum patterns with infectious grooves*2, all designed to maximize the nine sound engines that power the Kronos.
The Kronos Sound Libraries will be available worldwide for download purchase at Korg.com, with localized language support for different countries*3. The first releases will appear in mid-October. Check back at Korg.com for the latest information!
EXs Expansion Sample Series: Expansion libraries containing PCM Samples, Program, and Drumkit data*2. Functionality-restricted demo versions can be downloaded for evaluation; purchasing an authorization code removes the restrictions.
KRS Professional Sound Series: Libraries for assisting sound design and song production, containing Program, Combination, and Song data*2. These libraries are purchased at the time of downloading.

Thanks for the info!

Wow!
Add KidNepros new soundsets in autumn, other third party stuff, Karma editor, and finally user sound exchange, and there will be more than enough to keep Kronos keyboarders going.
I'm VERY curious to hear EXs10!

Kronos 73 - Moog Voyager RME - Moog LP TE - Behringer Model D - Prophet 6 - Roland Jupiter Xm - Rhodes Stage 73 Mk I - Elektron Analog Rytm MkII - Roland TR-6s - Cubase 12 Pro + Groove Agent 5
It's all great.
With one exception:
VST-Plugin only end of November (that probably will become December according to experience). A plugin which is part of the product, with a delay of about half a year: that's just not ok from my view.

Where is it stated that it's part of the product or that it should be immediately available with it?jimknopf wrote:VST-Plugin only end of November (that probably will become December according to experience). It is disappointing the editor has taken so long to finish but I can live with it.
Kronos Editor and Plug-In Editor
Kronos Version 1.5 adds support for the Kronos Editor and Plug-In Editor, which allows the editing and organizing sounds from a Mac OS X or Windows computer. Plug-in operation allows you to save settings as part of your project with any VST-compatible Windows software, or any VST- or AU-compatible software on Mac OS X. The Kronos Editor and Plug-In Editor will be available for free download in late November 2011 at www.korg.com/kronos

The 1.5 OS update is free.apex wrote:how much?
The optional EXis will cost money. Korg will most likely announce those prices at the time they are available for sale.

The editor was included from the beginning in Korg's online offers of the Kronos both on the US site and German site. If I rememeber right, it is even part of the printed invoice description from the store where I bought the Kronos.Megakazbek wrote:Where is it stated that it's part of the product or that it should be immediately available with it?jimknopf wrote:VST-Plugin only end of November (that probably will become December according to experience). While I think a delay of two or three months would still be acceptable, I do NOT think that half a year without the VSTi is ok. And frankly, I also think that nobody should encourage companies to make a habit of such delays by gladly accpeting them.
The prices are named on the German Korg site (I don't survey the others right now):

Just be patient. If history repeats, it'll either be given away when the Kronos is discontinued or it'll be included in its successorDaveBoulden wrote:Ouch! $249 for an EXs seems a little steep. I'm looking forward to the Austrian piano EXs, though, obviously we're all assuming it's a Bosendorfer, I'm certainly hoping it is! ... let's hope the "street price" may be a little lower.
