Problems to be aware of?

Post by dandersen »

I am new to the forum-please be gentle! I want to purchase a used Triton LE for my son. It is through a private indiviual. I don't know enough about these instruments to make a qualified judgement about the condition. Is there anything I should be aware of/common problems/internal glitches etc. to make a more informed decision? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

make sure you're getting a good deal.
The TR is newer and has some updated sounds, better piano, uses SD cards, etc. If you can get one for a similar price, absolutely do go for it.

Again, the M50 is superior in many ways.

Also check all connectors (both input/output) if possible.

Check the joystick - obviously pitch bend can be reprogrammed but make sure that at least on some patches, pushing the joystick left/right changes the pitch.
Then check the sustain pedal jack if possible - if you plug in a sustain pedal and the pitch changes when you press it, then there's a problem with the joystick (odd connection I know, but it's true)

You should look for a little newer synthesizers such as TR series or, better, M50.

By the way, don't buy if you not completely trust the person where you're buying from, expecially if it's an used instrument.
From another point of view, a musical instrument shop/dealer might be more reliable than a private person.
Life without music would be a mistake
