There are about 10 GM banks: GM and g(1) to g(9) and g(d).
The g(1) to g(9) are variations of the same indices of GM. However a lot of them are equal and yes, all are shown, even the duplicates.
What is even worse, is that the within the category list, the user banks are positioned after the GM patches of that category, resulting in first all patches of the selected category from int banks, then GM banks, than user banks.
Most consider the GM banks as less interesting (not due to Korg, these GM sounds need to be very 'basic'/compatible with other synths). it would be nice to be able to hide the GM sounds (and especially the GM duplicate sounds).

GM Sounds
Why all the fuss about GM sounds?
They have their uses!
Some users may work on programming GM song files for backing tracks etc..
In the past I needed to program and edit a lot of GM song files and had to buy a separate GM module.
This type of user might need this compatibility.
Also a GM song file can be used by some live players as a basic backing track.
Maybe there is not a great need to have so many banks but one or two can be useful!

Re: GM Sounds
I think they are useful, and I don't want them to be hidden always, but it would be nice if they COULD be hidden (at least in the category search). Just like showing favorites or not (checking/unchecking a check box).DavyP wrote:Why all the fuss about GM sounds?

All I can say to this is that it would be nice if Korg offered a GMidiless Kronos model for $1000 less...then I could pick up another one.
Runningman67, you are impossible to keep up with.

Probably you would need to pay more for it because they have to do some work to strip it out.DennyC wrote:All I can say to this is that it would be nice if Korg offered a GMidiless Kronos model for $1000 less, then I could pick up another one.runningman67 you are hard to keep up with.

+ 0.5 ... I hope it will be a checkbox in the category select pages for programs ... which is default OFF.alantunucci wrote:+3runningman67 wrote:+2curvebender wrote: +1.
That way I can first check all the 'normal' programs, if I cannot find the sound I like I can check the checkbox to see the GM programs.

Sounds very Reasonable to me...it's a bit messy and confusing when you check the keyboard for first time atleast...Would be nice to have an option to hide the GM programs...Please Korg
