Is the M3 truly discontinued?
Maybe theres already a topic for this but is the M3 truly in the dust with the Triton? The 61, 73, and 88-keys that is. I think the Kronos replaces it, but I'm not sure. I've tried to look up if it is but have been unsuccessful in doing so.
Any ideas?

Rich Formidoni = Knows his Korgs
But seriously, I think with the Kronos out I believe people will be buying that instead of the M3 as demand becomes higher and Korg will eventually give the M3 the pink slip, but i dont know...
By the way, where do they hold the NAMM

Korg normally offers keyboards at different price points, and since the Kronos is much more expensive than the M3, I don't seem them discontinuing it without a suitable replacement.Dogmatic1010 wrote:But seriously, I think with the Kronos out I believe people will be buying that instead of the M3 as demand becomes higher and Korg will eventually give the M3 the pink slip, but i dont know...

The M3 has seen software & hardware revisions, plus Korg has issued new (free) sound libraries for it during the last few years. I'm sure if you Google "Korg M3" you'll find all the info you need.Dogmatic1010 wrote:Have they offered any new versions of the M3 like 2.0 or something? The only other way I can see it being replaced is with a M4.
I'd like to see the M3 replaced with a "baby Kronos."

... wouldn't Krony be a "friend" of Kronos rather than "son-of".
I could see it with a halved or severely dumbed down AP / EP / Organ Engines, keep both analogs and DX, lose the string synth, and finally keep the generalist (M3/Oasys) rompler. No sampling (sorry guys) and a heavy slant toward live use... address the tiny print and road survivability issues (make it a tank, thanks) and put out a 73 key synth-action.
Or!
Release "krony" as an M3-key bed compatible RACK!!! I'd buy that. And Korg would get the added bonus of firmly establishing their M3 Platform as a standard for rack add-ons.

I just got a second M3-73 with serial number in the 5000 range so they are available. My local Sam Ash had to place an order with Korg and delivery took 6 weeks. Korg USA headquarters is 15 miles from my Sam Ash so it’s safe to assume that they didn’t have any in stock at that warehouse.
I don’t know what the availability of the 61 or 88 models are but I’m guessing better that the 73. In any case the M3 will likely be discontinued in a year or so anyway. It may very well be unofficially discontinued already.
I have my doubts that Korg is manufacturing new M3’s. I would bet that now they are shuffling warehouse inventory.

Especially since production problems arised all production capacity is going to only the newer instruments.

Re: Is the M3 truly discontinued?
I think the M3 is still a good seller for korg and Kronos is not doing as well. Why do I say that? Why in the hell do they push the Microkorg like its new. They need the money lol if Kronos was doing so well I can't see them pushing a old synth. Yea Microkorg is a cool synth but jeeezz. For me it does not matter whether the M3 is discontinued or not. Korg will not give us anything new. If they do stop selling it new only will mean the value of the M3 goes down and korg will be come out with cut down versions of KronosDogmatic1010 wrote:Maybe theres already a topic for this but is the M3 truly in the dust with the Triton? I'm just one buyer. But without the pads, a KRONOS module wouldn't interest me much, unless it had a newer version of KARMA.Muji wrote:...and make it available in a module.Dogmatic1010 wrote:How could they do a "baby kronos"? Name it Krony?
The M3m is really a one-of-a-kind piece of gear.

I think the MicroKorg is for another audience. And M3 is more or less comparable with a Kronos.biggrime wrote:I think the M3 is still a good seller for korg and Kronos is not doing as well.
